5.0 out of 5 starsNothing to complain about
Reviewed in Australia on 9 April 2020
Mainly using it for PS4 (MW, Apex, etc). Usually solo play, sometimes party chat with mates. Using it for WFH online meetings as well.

Sound is great, good surround sound. Comfortable to wear during long periods (my ears fit perfectly inside). Not too heavy. Workmates say the sound is clear, although I look and sound like I'm about to report a crash on the Tulla from the helicopter.

All in all - great price for this quality. Arrived almost a week earlier than expected (Melb west suburbs). Good accessories. Highly recommended for any use.

1.0 out of 5 starsNOT HAPPY!
Reviewed in Australia on 30 August 2019
While the quality of gaming sound in my ears is probably pretty good and the mic clarity is good, The CONS (negatives, down-sides) OUT-WAY these PROS!
1. The detachable mic feature. I thought this would be a WONDERFUL feature, since i hate the mic being there when I'm not using it! The 1st time I detached it and re-attached it, I noticed it was already looser!!! <-- this is terrible! I've seen seen many complaints that they fall off and get looser over time!.
2. With a CHEAPER headset (by LG)... about half the price, I never had problems with the volume that I couldn't fix but with this one, there seems to be no SETTINGS to change it - there aren't even Windows mic settings for volume when it's the default mic item! This is AWFUL for recording video of gaming! <I had to do a work-around where i reduce all game sounds and reduce volume of GAME 'recording' while maxing out the volume of MIc recording at the recording sfotware end (NVidia/Geforce Experience aka Shadowplay)....VERY frustrating
3. The STUPID, POINTLESS dongle along the cord for headset Volume control (why do I need this??), gets snagged then rips apart, has a pointless 7.1Surround button, which i often find OFF (again, WHY have this option there) and a Mic volume which when i start a new game and ask other players, find that it's increasing my volume....I.e. My mic volume wasn't at Max for some reason...?...
^ This is all the opposite of what you want in a gaming headset and certainly not what I expected in a headset TWICE as expensive as the LG one I was using that DIDN'T HAVE THESE PROBLEMS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality Headset - Excellent 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 September 2018
Colour: RedStyle: WiredVerified Purchase
I have had this headset for about one and a half years now and I LOVE IT! I have had absolutely no problems with it is certianly one of the best gaming headsets you can buy in the: £50 < headset < £100 price bracket, I think that it was a great purchase.

SOUND QUALITY:

The sound quality from these headphones is great. I love listening to music on them and using them in games. This headset excels in games like CS:GO where recognising the location of other nearby players due to their footsteps is vital. This is thanks to the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. This definitely gives you a competitive advantage over other players. It has a USB Audio Sound Card which you plugs into your computer, you then plug the auxillery wire into the mini controller which enables the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. Therefore, this headset is best suited to the computer. When using on a smartphone or a device that is not compatible with the soundcard, although you still get high quality stereo audio, it is not quite as good to the surround soud. In summary, the audio is fantastic and highly recommended for gamers.

MICROPHONE:

When talking to friends on Discord or Skype, they never have a problem understanding me, it has good clarity. When testing it before this review on a voice recorder, although the microphone volume was set high on the control box, it was not that loud to be honest, you need to speak at a reasonable volume as it will not pick up muttering or quiet talking that well. It is still a perfectly adaquete microphone but there are probably better microphone alternatives out there if this is a major deciding factor. For me, the microphone is plenty good enough

QUALITY \ BUILD:

After receiving this product, I found that it came in a nice red box with 'HyperX' printed on the front. A mesh bag is also provided, it is easy to say that I had the best unboxing experience with this product that I have ever had. On to the headphones themselves, the headset has a comfortable memory foam headband and has two different types of ear cups: leather cups and foam cups. Although I prefer the leather cups as they feel premium and very comfortable, my head gets quite warm in them sometimes during intense gaming :).

The headset size is adjustable to fit all sizes of heads by pulling down the ear cups from the headband.

Finally, the microphone is detatchable which is a nice touch, especially if I am only using them to listen to music although the cap that you can cover the auxillery jack with is very easy to lose.

PRICE \ PERFORMANCE:

I think this is a great investment if you want to ramp up your gaming experience and listen to high quality audio. They are made by a reputable brand and I have absolutely no fault.

I hope my review plays a factor in wether you buy this product, or not, or was at least helpful to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most likely the best gaming headset on the market right now, especially if you wear glasses
Reviewed in Canada on 30 June 2018
Colour: RedStyle: WiredVerified Purchase
Ok so I've tried a few gaming headsets on the market right now which include Steelseries Arctis 7, Steelseries Arctis pro+gamedac, Corsair VOID pro wireless, Corsair VOID pro RGB and I can definitely confirm that the HyperX cloud II headset is the most comfortable and has the best sound overall. If you don't mind playing with a wired headset, then this is it. The only two gaming headsets I tried that didn't hurt my head because of my glasses were the Corsair void pro wireless or USB-RGB (too heavy and too loose) and the HyperX cloud II.

So if you wear glasses and want a superb sound with a detachable mic, 2 sets of earpads and a 2 year warranty, then look no further.
Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent headset
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 March 2022
Colour: Gun MetalStyle: WiredVerified Purchase
I bought a pair of the HyperX Cloud II headset, and they were so good, I came back and bought another. The sound is very, very good for the price. I also bought a more expensive headset around the same time by a different manufacturer and I have to say they were nowhere near as good as the HyperX Cloud II. The headset comes with a USB cable and a clip-on soundcard, with separate volume control and separate mic input level. There's also a button to activate the 7.1 virtual surround sound. I should mention that this headset also works without the accompanying USB cable - in that it can be plugged straight into a standard 3.5 mm jack. There's not that much loss of quality by removing the USB connection, but you do then lose the 7.1 virtual surround sound and the volume and input controls, as well as leaving the overall length of the cable much shorter. But it is useful to be able to connect it in a standard way through the 3.5 mm headphone jack. One issue I noticed, was that you need to make sure that the detachable mic "boom" is plugged in all the way - it almost has to click right in, otherwise the mic may not work, or it can even fall off the headset. This mic issue did not affect the overall usefulness of the headset for me, but it might become a problem for someone using it for gaming where more physical movement is involved. Incidentally, I only noticed the difficulty plugging the microphone in all the way with one of the two headsets I bought, so it may be a one-off. Since the boom mic part is fully detachable, for anyone just wanting to use the headset as headphones, then they will work very well for this, without the intrusive mic getting in the way or sticking out. I used one of the pairs I bought purely as headphones - minus the mic part. The sonic quality is incredible and you barely hear any external noises around you. The bass is excellent as well as the general fidelity of the sound. They are comfortable on the ears and I highly recommend the headset. I think they are worth 5 to 10 times the price they actually cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars HyperX Cloud II - Best Headset I've ever owned!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 July 2019
Colour: RedStyle: WiredVerified Purchase
By far the best headset I have owned! Still great in 2019.

I first experienced Kingston/HyperX when I was gifted the "SteelSeries Siberia V2 Kingston HyperX Limited Edition Gaming Headset" a number of years ago now. They were incredible, but after a couple of years one of the ear pieces stopped producing sound. I then purchased a different SteelSeries model (P300 maybe?) which met an untimely end by the hands of my partner at that time, (she snapped the headphone jack, so I snapped her(out of exsistence)). I still own both headsets which Ive always been meaning to repair, but never got around to it.

I ended up purchasing another headset, and wanted to purchase one by either SteelSeries or HyperX, and ultimately settled on this one, and damn did I make a good choice. The quality is incredible and I would highly recommend them. I shall list some pros and cons below.

Pros:
-Purchased in mid 2016 and still in near perfect condition to date, and I use them near enough daily!
-Strong braided cable.
-Detachable Microphone.
-Microphone is very clear and Ive been told it is of very good sound quality by others.
-Very comfortable closed-cup design, with two interchangable ear cushion options (soft cloth type & leatherette).
-Ear cushions keep their shape and softness, even after 3 years.
-Awesome sound quality, even better when using the usb extender cable.
-7.1 sound toggle which is great with films and games.
-Control box is the best ive seen. Very sturdy and the perfect size. The buttons are big and give a nice solid clicking sound when pressed.
-Built in sound card.
-The overall build quality is great and ive not had a single problem with them.

Cons:
-When the cable with jack isnt plugged into the usb extension cable it is fairly short, but then again its generally always being used with the usb cable and would be silly to not use it.
-Cloth type ear cushions pick up alot of dust, fluff, hair and other debris over time compared to the leatherette ones (this is kind of understandable though).
-On occasion my PC takes a bit longer then average to recognize the headset when being plugged in. (average for me being around 2-3 seconds).

I tried to find more cons but I really couldnt think of any.

TLDR:
Awesome headset with impressive sound and build quality, also very comfortable, even over extended periods. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a headset for media/gaming/VoIP(Discord, etc.). Also fairly decent with most music.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you need any more convincing...

...Jodi Comer wears one of these during the film "Free Guy" with Ryan Reynolds.
On the practical side I've owned a pair since 2015 and they are still going strong. Great sound quality and comfort. Block out a lot of surrounding noise without the need for noise cancelling and because the "strap" is metal won't snap like a lot of headsets eventually do.
Can't recommend these highly enough. This is one case where paying more will not get you a better headset than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my..... what a suprise...!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 October 2016
Colour: RedStyle: WiredVerified Purchase
I purchased these for my son for the Amazon going price at the time of posting this review. These were not freebies or discounted in anyway.
My son needed a pair of headphones to use on his Xbox one and after reading many reviews (even the 1 star ratings) I decided to go for the Kingston HyperX II gaming headset. I would not be disappointed. To test any headphones for quality sound and make comparisons one needs to play a good quality mp3 format using 320kbps data format.
Oh my.....what a suprise..! The earpads completely cover your ears and feel very comfortable. The sound reproduction was amazing... no kidding, these 53mm speaker units do an amazing job. Good unbroken punchy base, beautiful mid range with crisp clear highs. For goodness sake, these sounded better than my expensive Bose on ear headphones.
The build quality is very good and feel sturdy.... extremely high standard indeed. The mic reproduction is clear and crisp. If my Bose headphones had a mic I would have done a sneaky swap. I just love these HyperX II and now intend to purchase a pair. I don't know how Kingston have produced such excellent quality headphones at this very good price. The container in which the headphones came in was top quality with a lot of effort to detail.
Top marks Kingston.... you have proven that brilliant quality and design doesn't have to cost the earth...! Highly recommend.
