I've said it before and I'll say it again Jewel E. Ann was such an amazing surprise for me I wasn't expecting such awesomeness when I dabbled into the world/work of her mind. I loved this story, Idle Bloom, such depth of emotion and great characters it's on a par with the other amazing novels I've read that were written by Jewel E. Ann. Perhaps the only thing I wasn't on board with was the choice of businesses for Vivian but believe me that's not a complaint.

~Lost. I'm lost in this moment. I'm lost in every moment, floundering around as one day blurs into the next. I won't look back, but I can't see forward. Stuck-that's it-I'm stuck. Am I waiting to be rescued? Will I dig my own way out and move forward? Or, will I perish in this dark hole?~

Vivian Graham had her life laid out in front of her with an acceptance letter to Harvard, til a tragic accident puts her future on hold and leaves her with scars so deep she doesn't know if she'll ever be whole again. Surrounded by a handful of loyal friends, an impressive amount of ink, an addiction to Dunkin' Donuts' and her ever-dreaded V-card, she boards a train everyday on her way to work while life continues on around her. Romance is so far off her radar it's laughable but that doesn't stop her from lusting after the hott new eye-candy on the train every morning.

Oliver Konrad had a bright future ahead of him as a graduate from Harvard Law when he moved to Portland ready for the future. Three years later tragedy strikes and Oliver returns home a broken man riddled with pain and secrets. Numbness to the world around him is all he knows until he sees her and her porn worthy addiction to Boston Kreme doughnuts on the morning train.

Circumstances keep putting them in each others paths and laughter quickly morphs to friendship then turns to an unexpected attraction so strong neither are prepared or able to fight it. Grab a box of tissues, you will definitely need it with this one. The emotional pain these two endure is almost unbearable ~ Oliver especially. But the worst part was; he refused to get himself the help he needed, refused to acknowledge he actually needed help, saw the pain he was causing and didn't see a way out of it ~ none of it was done out of stubbornness, just pure fear and gutwrenching pain. But it wasn't all dark and heavy, though that was a major factor; Oliver had a light side to him, a side brought out by Vivian that was sweet, funny & sexy-as-hell. The dynamic between these two was impossible to walk away from, they brought the best out of each other as well as the worst, their flirty joking around was hilarious, the sex was off-the-charts, and the emotions so intense it jumped off the pages. We are blessed with dual POV's so we get a deep understanding of what makes our dynamite duo who they are; we get why they make the decisions they make, feel the way they feel, we hurt and heal right along with them. It was amazing. There was also a slew of fantastic secondary characters that brought out different facets of our couple and some characters I could have done without. Kai took me completely by surprise and not in a good way. In the end this was an incredible journey about love, healing, laughter and two characters that will forever hold a special place in my heart. Jewel E. Ann has secured her spot on my One-Click-Addiction List one blush and tear at a time and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next.

4.25 stars--IDLE BLOOM is a romantic, contemporary, new adult storyline that focuses on twenty two year old landscape nursery assistant Vivian Graham, and thirty year old former lawyer and handy man Oliver Konrad. While Vivian struggles to make end meets, Oliver struggles with a dark and tormented past.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Vivian and Oliver) IDLE BLOOM follows Vivian and Oliver’s building relationship. Oliver’s brother Chance has been hitting on Vivian for close to two years but the moment Oliver walks into Vivian’s store, she knows she has been waiting for the right man. Vivian will soon discover that Oliver is her neighbor and keeping her distance will become more difficult as their attraction to one another grows. But Oliver hides a secret; one that consumes his every thought; and one that could destroy his relationship with Vivian when the truth is finally revealed.

The relationship between Oliver and Vivian is sensual, seductive and provocative. Vivian is a virgin whose desire for Oliver brings out the sex-kitten hidden deep within her soul. Giving herself to Oliver means giving more than her V-card, but giving of herself and her heart. While Vivian prepares for her classes at Harvard, Oliver prepares to go back into the past.

The colorful secondary characters are complex and controversial including Vivian and Oliver’s families as well as Vivian’s friends and roommate. Vivian’s family is over protective and is unable to accept that their daughter is now an adult, while Oliver’s family is supportive but know that in order for Oliver to move forward he must face the heartache of his past. Even Vivian has secrets that she has never shared.

IDLE BLOOM is a story of anguish, heartbreak, grief and torment. Oliver keeps secret his past; a past buried in a locked room within his house; and a lock that Vivian is determined to open. There are moments where tears will flow for a man who has lost so much but the tears will be tempered when the same man is unable to come to terms with the loss. Oliver needs closure and in taking the steps forward he may lose the woman who is beginning to repair his heart. Our couple will be separated for months and in this I struggled to accept the ‘what fors and whys’. There are moments when you have to walk away knowing that you are not responsible for the happiness of others; guilt is a strong emotion and an ugly motivator when used in the wrong hands.

Jewel E Ann takes the reader through a roller coaster of emotions; the highs and lows of a relationship between two people meant for one another but one that is in a continuing battle with the ghosts of the past. Our couple must overcome obstacles, betrayal, buried memories and emotional ties to the past. Friendships will be destroyed when words are said in anger but sometimes these friendships are never meant to be.

IDLE BLOOM is an intimate look at two people and the drama that is their lives. Jewel E Ann’s astonishing ability to draw forth the reader’s emotions is a testament to her amazing skill as a writer. You can feel the intense sorrow and pain; the incredible love; and the moment when friendship turns to passion then to love.

I loved the authors Jack and Jill series and the spin off "One", so I was looking forward to reading more of her books. This book started off as a lovely romance with cute, comedy moments. However, this book deals with some serious issues and felt like a "heavy" read. I felt like Vivian was too strong a character to be held back by her past. Oliver's past was horrific. I ended up skipping some parts because I didn't want to completely give up on the characters. I would probably give the book 2.5 stars.
