This is a great book for curious young minds. Written by an Australian illustrator and animal enthusiast (you can find info at the back of the book), it is a sort of encyclopedia little children are quite willing to listen to and read, when they are ready to.

It is not really colourful and, to me, looks a bit drab as it is all black/grey/brown. A bit of colour to make it slightly more appealing would do nicely, but I have to say it is a great way to keep the child's focus as there is only an animal to look at, no fancy flowers and so on. But I do believe making the pictures slightly lighter would have helped appreciate the beauty of the beasts more (this is to the publisher).

I really enjoyed this book. It dedicates a page to dangerous animals that are dangerous in a not obvious way! You can learn about their size, what makes them dangerous and their habitat. It's a great reference book and it wonderfully illustrated. Very enjoyable tome.
