It is not really colourful and, to me, looks a bit drab as it is all black/grey/brown. A bit of colour to make it slightly more appealing would do nicely, but I have to say it is a great way to keep the child's focus as there is only an animal to look at, no fancy flowers and so on. But I do believe making the pictures slightly lighter would have helped appreciate the beauty of the beasts more (this is to the publisher).

You will find a lot of the lesser common animals and it focuses on the aspects of how dangerous or poisoning they are and so on
Each one has large realistic illustrations and also plenty of information so this book is suitable for both my 5 year old and my 10 year old, it can suit all kids to their own level either reading independently or together with a parent.
It’s a hard cover format, and will last for years and years of learning and curiosity

Great addition to my family's natural history library
