How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars So So Good!!

What a great story. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading it. Generally I would not think that writing from a teenage point of view would be something I would like but wow.........this was excellent. The fall out after an accident was incredible and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story about the dynamics within families. A truly wonderful read - did not want it to end.

I found it difficult to put this book down, and was looking for ways in my day to sneak a few extra minutes with it, although I didn't want it to end. Everyone handles grief and adversity differently and it was shown here. It made me smile and it made me cry. It will stay with me for a while, I think. The author's own experiences from which the events were drawn makes it even more real.

Excellent to find a new type of story told in a completely new way. I kept wanting to see what happens next pretty much right to the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking

I really enjoyed this book, I read it until I fell asleep and carried on with it as soon as I woke up. It hooked me in very quickly. The story seems quite straightforward but soon becomes deeper. A family go to their cabin in the mountains for a weekend. Mum, dad, daughter and boyfriend, other daughter and her best friend, son with special needs and even the family dog. Plus their best friends with their own daughter. But what starts out as a fun adventure soon turns a lot darker when they crash down a cliff side in terrible weather conditions. I don't want to spoil the story, so I won't talk about the aftermath. Suffice to say, you never know how you will react in extreme circumstances. The book really is very interesting and thought provoking, with a lot of sadness mixed in. The only reason for not giving five stars is that I felt the book lost some of its depth towards the end and things got wound up a bit too neatly. But it is a worthwhile read and I shall definitely look out for other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!

I did not want to put this book down, once I had started reading it. I had to, very regretfully, put it down to go to sleep at 2 am. The story was told with such a clever device, through the eyes of Finn, who had died. I really didn’t want the book to end, it had two chapters which I thought it had ended at, but no it went for a couple more, I was relieved. I would recommend this book to anyone, it is exciting, tragic, funny and also has a smidgeon of romance in there. I absolutely loved it.

The Cat's Mother
5.0 out of 5 stars Best book I've read in ages

I downloaded this book as my free Kindle First, thinking it looked like the best of the bunch but not really sure I liked the idea of a story narrated by a dead spirit. How wrong I was. I loved the book, it really was one of those books that I didn’t want to put down. In fact, I’d read it before going to sleep and often awoke in the night not able to go back to sleep until I’d read a bit more (thank goodness for my Kindle paperwhite so I can read in the dark). The chapters are all really short so I had to force myself to put it down at the end of a chapter. I won’t go into the plot, just read the synopsis, but the characters are all well drawn and I could understand their actions and empathise with all of them. It is one of the best books I have read in ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book in a long time

This is the best book I've read in a long time that kept my attention and I wanted to read it every spare minute to find out what happens to the characters which were very thought out and believable.
The start of the book had me in tears at the thought of this happening in real life which tells how real this author made the characters, I have never had any tears for any book.
It goes on to give a nice heartwarming ending that makes you feel better after the start and middle of the story.
I really loved this book and will remember it for a long time.

I don't do many book reviews but enjoyed this novel so much, I wanted to add my comments to the many brilliant reviews already posted. I read a lot and am often left disappointed with the ending of a book, with how the characters are developed, with how the plot is developed, etc etc. This book doesn't disappoint on any level and takes you through a whole gamut of emotions. As soon as I finished, I wanted to start over 😀. Yes, it made me cry but it also made me laugh out loud and really think about the characters and why they made their choices. A wholly super read with the benefit of having real substance that made you think and care about the people you were reading about.

I acknowledge when a book is good, I want to keep picking it up (when I should be doing other things!), and it's Excellent when I just don't want it to end, as I too will have to "let go" of the characters. I love the concept of "being watched" over: something I feel myself. Will be getting on to the other books by this author asap.
