Italy Ever After: A sizzling romantic read Kindle Edition
'Wonderfully romantic - the perfect summer read' Sandy Barker
Escape to the sun and head off to Italy, with the wonderfully warm and ever-so-page-turning Leonie Mack!
TV journalist Lou feels battered and bruised after her divorce from Phil, the father of her daughter Edie. Her confidence and sense of fun have steadily been drained away, and she isn’t sure who she is any more.
When the opportunity arises to accompany Edie on a music camp in Italy for a month in the summer, Lou jumps at the chance for new adventures, new horizons and new friends. The hazy warmth of the summer sun, shining brightly over the stunning Lake Garda, slowly brings Lou back to life.
Nick Romano, Edie’s music teacher, loves being home in Italy, but coaching his students for their concert in Milan, is bringing back difficult memories. His blossoming friendship with Lou is the perfect distraction, although a summer fling would be easier to conduct without the scrutiny of his mother Greta, not to mention the interference of his extended Italian family.
As the summer passes, full of sunshine and breath-taking scenery, gelato and delicious feasts, Lou and Nick get ever closer. But as the time for farewell creeps up on them, will they be able to say goodbye and leave their memories behind in the Italian sun, or can a summer romance last a lifetime?
Leonie Mack is back with a sizzling, sun-baked love story, perfect for all fans of Mandy Baggot, Jo Thomas and Carole Matthews.

Nick and Lou find themselves thrust unexpectedly together while supervising a school music trip to Italy. Although their romance may seem a fun distraction for the duration of the trip, when it demands they confront their deepest held insecurities, both Lou and Nick must decide what kind of life they really want for themselves.
Mack artfully captures the softest and most charming aspects of the ultimate Italian escape. She deftly takes her reader on an authentic and engaging armchair adventure. Expect to lose yourself in her narrative, whether exploring a busy Milanese street or visiting a rustic farming family, Mack demonstrates a skilful grasp of her subject. You will share equally in the terror and elation of performing at the majestic Teatro alla Scala, the quiet peace of foraging for fungi in the forests, the long hazy summer days by the beautiful Lake Garda or the thrill of a mountain hike to the summit. Not to mention rage at Lou's rotten jerk of an ex-husband, Phil!
Karen Cass’ narration of this tale is skilful and engaging. She is an easy narrator to listen to – jumping seamlessly in and out of characters and driving the natural tensions of the story convincingly.
Even if romance is not your genre of choice, you’ll enjoy the talent behind this novel – Mack is a dynamic author who I’m sure has many more books ahead!

Do not laugh at me!
This review has been four weeks in the making. In the end I had to have a stern word with myself (which did not go over well) that I wasn’t writing the next Pulitzer and to get on with it *rolls eyes*.
The perils of loving a book *pinches fingers* a tad too much.
I don’t know how she’s done it, but Leonie Mack has done it again. I fell in love with everything about this story; the characters, setting and the story. Lou and Nick are perfect in their imperfection. Just like life!
It’s a story about finding yourself.
About finding someone who lifts you up not brings you down.
Who doesn’t see your quirks as inadequacies (that says more about them than you *growling at a certain character*) but embraces your uniqueness.
It hit me right in the feels. Bright and summery like a dose of Vitamin D right to the heart.
The author does slow burn so *so* well. You can feel it mounting (*snorts* head out of the gutter, Laura!).
Yet there is so much love in the book – in all its forms. The love of family, friends, music, and places. The passions we have in life. Some of my favourite scenes in the book are when Edie (Lou’s daughter) and Nick play (violins) together. Their connection is out of this world. I could feel it sweeping through me.
Sheesh! It took me weeks to get going now I can’t seem to shut up *palms face*. I would apologise but… *shrugs*
I have a feeling that what happens in music camp won’t be staying in music camp!
Lou’s character is drawn very well. Her struggles post divorce and finding herself. Navigating parenting with someone who’s caused you pain. I could relate to her easily.
Nick is the sort of man you need when life has been turned upside down. The moments I enjoyed most, were when he became assertive. I was like ‘Yes, Nick!’
Another lovely, slow-burn (Leonie is the queen of slow-burn) love story.
I'm a huge fan of this author's style of writing and the way she pulls you into the story. The descriptions are incredible and the musical detail really took me on a journey.
I can't wait for her new book. Venice, here we come!
