Product description
Based on the novels by Ken Bruen, Jack Taylor is an Irish ex-cop, on the wrong side of forty who has become a finder with a sharp tongue and a soft heart. He takes on the cases the police wont touch, no matter how hopeless. Hes pig stubborn. He defends the lost and the broken. Hes good because he looks where no one else looks, talks to the people no one else talks to. Moreover, he knows every back street in his hometown, Galway, knows the seed and breed of everyone in it. But small towns have big memories, and like Jack they are quick to anger and slow to forgive.

EXCELLENT & RIVETING VIEWING
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 April 2018Verified Purchase
I absolutely LOVED this series made from 8 of Ireland's Ken Bruen's books. He has since written 4 more books for Jack Taylor so I check often to see if they will resume filming, I HOPE REAL SOON. Iain Glenn is superb as Jack Taylor.
The stories are brilliant and it has made me very interested in the Author of who I have since looked up and he will be one of the rare Authors I will purchase and read his fiction, my being generally more interested in Biography and History.
All his books are linked but they do stand up alone. I found them all riveting and watched them in quick succession, staying up late into the night not being able to wait for another day.
This series is definitely one of my VERY FAVOURITE. I wait IN GREAT HOPE for another series to be made, PLEASE.

JACK TAYLOR DVD BOX SET SERIES 1 - 3
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 September 2020Verified Purchase
A brief review of this excellent Box Set. 9 Films on 3 discs, excellent 16.9 ratio (fills my screen), good sound, clear picture and good optional subtitles. All the films are well written, directed and acted (by a cast apart from Glen not known by me), and filmed on sometimes grim Galway locations. Serious drama played with heart and soul. Recomended, but be warned - the plots are frequently very dark and violent and there is constant use of the "f" word. Just felt I should mention!!

More down to earth than many others of a similar ilk which helps put a sharpness to the atmosphere. An ex cop who still retains a sense of right and wrong, who gets involved in helping others with their problems but has trouble resovling his own. Some interesting story-lines which are not only well told but well acted out by all involved.

Cannot fault
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 August 2017Verified Purchase
Never seen this before. Would have been one of been one of the things I would have watched. Truly exceeds my expectations, as each episode is a different type of story and doesn't go down usual channels, cliques or stereotypes, and keeps the viewer on thier toes.

Hard-edged but interesting.

After a somewhat nasty and confusing first episode with rather too much about the leading character’s alcoholism for my taste, excellent performances and clever plots win through. Iain Glenn is a terrific actor and he’s well supported by a first rate ensemble. Recommended - with qualifications.
