Had me in tears of laughter. Short stories centered around 10-year old Andy, who drives his Australian family, the neighbor and just about everyone else to distraction with his incessant questions, his swinging off the clothes drying rack, getting caught naked in the family bathroom of his dad's boss's house, crawling through the wrong places, and saying the wrong things, at the wrong time. Andy Griffiths is Australian and, unlike in his 39 (and counting) Story Tree House books (also illustrated by his creative partner, and occasional co-protagonist, Terry Denton), Just Annoying - and the companion Just ____ books, show us life in a slightly different, yet familiar place. There are frequent allusions to Aussie culture and locations that at first are unfamiliar to the American reader. But the stories are so funny, and the recurring cast of characters is so well-drawn, that this is not at all important, it adds flavor. Andy is Greg Heffley's cousin from down under, but with more spunk and gumption. (Good evening, Andy says, in his suavest James Bond voice, as he appears between the legs of an unsuspecting middle-aged female movie-goer, looking - in vain but undeterred - for his lost Jaffa chocolate ball they rolled under the seat I front of him. It ends in mayhem.) Ages 8 and up.

My son, 8, is a huge Andy Griffiths fan. He loves the The 13-Story Treehouse and The Day My Butt Went Psycho series and has read them all multiple times. The silly, slightly rude and occasionally gross, but not over the top (it's all along the same lines as Captain Underpants ), humor is right up his third-grade-boy alley.

The book versions of this "Just" series are hard to find, no longer available or never offered in the U.S., but the CDs, for whatever reason, seem readily available. My son loves listening to these shorter stories before he falls asleep and tells me, "Mom, they're so funny."

I've listened to a few and you definitely need to be a young boy to "get" this humor, but it's all pretty harmless and anything that gets my son reading with the passion Andy Griffiths books do, is a winner in my book.

Read this book to my son's 2nd grade class. You can't always keep the attention of 7 and 8 year olds but it was a major hit. The first chapter alone is worth the price of the entire book. Absolutely hilarious! Both parents and kids will be able to identify with the feelings and situations that occurs. Definitely recommended.
