It was good, but I felt it wasn't very detailed etc and at times dragged abit. The fact that she just got (foreplay) all the time started getting boring after a few times. No action or anything. Let's hope book 3 is amazing. But book 1 is far better.

I am totally confused by the plot.
I have no idea who, what or why they want the mirror and or the key. I have no idea what any of it has to do with Pride's bride, the First Witch or the dead witches on Earth.
I don't know what the curse is, who is cursed or why and I'm not entirely sure it makes any sense.
But most baffling of all is why Emilia hasn't agreed to marry Wrath already.
He's protective, generous, devoted, empowering and hot as hell (see what I did there?)
Honestly, what is her problem?

Un tome très en demi-teinte, qui m'a assez déçue... 😅

Après un premier tome que j'ai adoré et les pomesses du résumé de ce second tome, j'espérais aimer autant que le premier, voire plus ! Découvrir l'enfer, les sept wicked princes, j'étais sûre d'être ravie 😍

Mais le soufflet est vite tombé...

Au début, j'étais assez curieuse et prise par le récit, mais rapidement, mon intérêt s'est détérioré... C'était long, sans grand suspens et plus beaucoup de mystères. J'avais envie de découvrir l'univers, que l'enquête sur le meurtre de la jumelle d'Emilia soit plus présent. Au lieu de quoi, j'ai eu l'impression qu'il n'y avait que la relation Wrath/Émilia, tout de le long, et le désir d'Emilia pour Wrath... Même si j'ai aimé voir l'évolution de leur relation, ça manquait tellement de rebondissements et était trop répétitif pour garder mon intérêt 👀

Les rebondissements auraient pu être vraiment meilleurs si plus exploités dans la durée ! Et la fin m'a déçue, je l'espérais plus explosive 😅

Bref. Dans l'ensemble, un tome sympa, mais trop lent, sans beaucoup d'actions, duquel j'ai souvent décroché, qui faisait plus "remplissage" qu'autre chose... J'espère que le prochain tome nous donnera plus d'infos sur l'univers, qui est trop mis de côté, ce qui est super dommage et que le rythme sera mieux dosé 👀

I loved, loved, loved the first book in the series so much I pre-ordered the second... it was not great.

Kingdom of the Cursed begins with Emilia and Wrath traveling through the Sin Corridor. It's a test of sorts to figure out which Sin she best aligns with, and it's no surprise in which House she has the most traits. I really liked the idea of Emilia being tested right from the start, and I loved Wrath at her side the whole way.

The story was repetitive throughout. Every time she described Wrath it was the same and although I loved the character, I was bored of hearing how powerful he was, and how everyone feared him. I also grew bored of the lengthy details of every outfit Emilia and Wrath wore.

Most of the time it felt as if finding out who murdered her sister was an afterthought that was mentioned now and again as the story progressed as a reminder of what her goals are.

Now for the Spoliery reasons why I didn't love this book. If you don't want to know, stop reading....

Several chapters were devoted to training Emilia how to recognize the subtle touch of one of the princes influencing and bending her to their will. Over and over again, Wrath states that if she doesn't learn to protect herself from their influence, she'll suffer for it at the Feast of the Wolf... and yet she doesn't. Not once during the whole celebration of the Feast of the Wolf does any prince try to use his influence on her, making the training meaningless. I kept waiting for her to show off what she learned in all her lessons, and I was sorely disappointed.

Although, that bothered me a great deal, what happened next at the Feast of Wolf made me want to throw my book at the wall. Throughout the book it is stated that the Guest of Honor will have to give up one fear to the crowd. Emilia is afraid of what fear will be exposed, and of how it could be used against her. I loved the idea of how a secret fear revealed could easily raise the stakes for her. Moreover, I wanted Wrath to step in to offer up one of his secrets to protect her. I came to the conclusion that Kerri couldn't come up with a good fear for Wrath, and subverted expectations with a cringeworthy alternative.

Why it took Emilia so long to figure out that Wrath was the King, I'll never guess. I guessed it right from when he was left to accompany her to Hell, and everything he and his subjects said, made it all the more clear.

I'll likely read the third book to see how it ends as I do really like Emilia and Wrath.

I am surprised at the amount of explicit content in this book but I can't protest. It was good and I can't complain. Although the cliffhanger was frustrating and nothing really happens too much in the story. No action packed scenes. The book focuses on too much about wrath and Emilia's struggle against their marriage bond. I had to skip alot of scenes because if was getting boring.

I read the frist book and was hooked on finding out about how it was going to end. It was so-so.

Pros: interesting meeting more of the princes of hell. The story line is intriguing and an overall very easy read. I completed both books within three days. It was a nice change from my regular reading choice as it wasn’t heavy or contemplative. The plot was easily figured out but still fun to see unfold.

Cons: Not sure why the writer is obsessed with descriptions of outfits and food. Seriously annoying I started having to actually skip several paragraphs at a time because I was just sick of reading about them. Also I get we all love sexual tension but this is to much and was infuriating how long it drags on. Anyone saying this is erotica has obviously never actually read any. Yes there are some sex but nothing on erotica level. I actually found it to be very tame and mostly a let down.

Overall if you want something easy and entertaining with a small amount of sex sprinkled in I would recommend. However if your looking for some epic adventure on the level of George R.R. Martin or J. R.R. Tolkien this not it. Especially if you want PG.

Is it still addicting and will I still read the 3rd book? Yes absolutely. Are my expectations high? Not really.

Emilia is genuinely the worst part of this series

So, to start it off, this book is just an erotica. Straight up. An erotica with political intrigue mixed in. Anyway--

So this story would have been WILDLY different if Emilia had like, a braincell in her "very very pretty head" but she doesn't, her constant anger burns away any that may grow. Except for the ending when she MAGICALLY figures everything out, jumping enormous conclusions that are absolutely ridiculous, in terms to how she USUALLY thinks. Of course, none of the plottwists surprised me (except for the big one at the end, but that's a "Well of course I didn't expect that. It's completely nonsensical, oy there to utterly throw off the reader." Type of plot twist, which is just poor writing in my opinion.) and I figured them out in book one. Emilia only starts getting SUSPICIONS of a few reveals at like, the 65% mark. Our protagonist is a dumb one, and she does not have the mental capacity to figure out the things she did.

So, with that, all the plot beats and intrigue would have REALLY interesting and fun to navigate and explore if Emilia was literally anyone else, or any other protagonist took the reins.

This rating was so difficult for me. I felt so conflicted. For the first 30% I kept rolling my eyes and wishing I'd never bought so many copies/versions of this. It read like a very terrible cliché of historical romance novels, with those terrible descriptions that both offend and made me barf in my mouth a little. But... the gamer changer was once we got past all of that drivel and actually got a plot and world building. Here these characters were and so much was missing to make this unputdownable. I craved the plot and actual atmospheric action. The potential for greatness just wasn't there. Now... maybe I am feeling duped but after that dismal beginning, we did receive lots to cheer about. It just wasn't enough or took too long to seal the deal for me.

I'm hoping for good things, epic things, in the next book. I really don't want to be disappointed next time. I'm not sure what we'll get, but the bar as of now isn't very high. I'm highly disappointed.
