Two sisters. One brutal murder. A quest for vengeance that will unleash Hell itself....
A new series from the number one New York Times best-selling author of Stalking Jack the Ripper.
Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe - witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family's renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin...desecrated beyond belief.
Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister's killer and to seek vengeance at any cost - even if it means using dark magic that's been long forbidden.
Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia's side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women's murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems....

I won’t give too much away but this is perfect for the spooky season. A witch looking for vengeance, dark and deadly Princes of Hell, murders, secrets and lies around every corner. Who will you trust?
My favourite parts of the book, besides the delicious food, was watching the slow friendship and building of trust between Emilia and Wrath. They were both hesitant of each of other, Emilia more so after being told numerous scary stories about the Princes of Hell, but after spending time together Emilia begins to see that not everything she’s been told about them are true. And the slow building romance was intoxicating, I wanted, no need more!
Emilia suffers an unimaginable loss and all hell breaks loose, literally! The gates to hell are weakening and demons are escaping. Emilia and her sister hold the key to strengthening the gates, if she can just work out how.
The enemies-to-lovers romance aspect is super slow building and brings all of the angst and tension. Emilia and Wrath hate each other with a passion but as they say, it's a fine line between love and hate. I love the way their relationship plays out and the constant push and pull.
If you are looking for something spooky, revengeful and gripping with a touch of tension filled romance, then definitely check this one out! I could not put it down!
For a fantasy book the world building wasn’t too intense which was great. It has the right amount of angst, action and suspense.
I found it predictable but still enjoyable, Emilia wasnt too annoying which was also good because I usually find the FMC very annoying in the first book of a fantasy series.
I was hoping for a little more romance towards the end but I’ve been told that comes in book 2, so I am excited to see if anything develops with Wrath.
Im definitely looking forward to seeing where the rest of this series goes
- Witches, hell, devil/demons
- Dark aesthetic
- Gory at times!
- Medieval
- Revenge seeking kick-ass female character
- Romance (possibly?) - enemies to lovers trope
Fav tid-bit: the romantic interest is the least of her concerns

This book has been my most anticipated read of the year, being a huge fan of Kerri Maniscalco’s works and admiring her skills as a writer. So, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to love this book, I just didn’t expect to love it quite this much.
Emilia made for an absolutely brilliant protagonist. She’s brave, self-assured and slightly stubborn at times. She’s someone who takes no nonsense, not even from demons from Hell, and is desperate to avenge her twin sister, no matter what that would cost her. She’s an incredibly admirable protagonist, and it was a joy to read her journey from start to finish.
Wrath was another character who was deeply enjoyable to read about, exploring his relationship with Emilia with the use of luscious description and bouncing dialogue. They interacted beautifully together, spitting bile at one another until their relationship softened more and I loved every moment I read about them.
Although, Vittoria wasn’t mentioned much within the novel, her character meeting an unfortunate end quite early on, there was still a lot of character modelling involved in Maniscalco’s writing. This was a brilliant technique, making you feel for the characters after her death and caring about them; I was truly devastated, Emilia and Vittoria’s relationship being wonderful to witness up until that point.
The writing itself is wonderfully written, with lengthy descriptions and entertaining dialogue. The setting was explored beautifully through interactions between the characters, with explanations dotted around for those experiencing language barriers. That’s not to say that this book holds your hand however, being subtly done to not draw you away from the story itself.
Overall, I adored this book. Maniscalco truly has a talent for writing and that shines through in this novel. It was an absolute joy to read and I will be returning to it again and again.

Rome, one of the most fascinating places in the world even from thousands of years ago , with its hidden passages and mysterious habitants, it’s one of my to-visit places yet to tick off from my list, even more now after reading this charmingly written story.
I admired how our heroine is illustrated as a strong inexperienced girl, assertive and loving of her family, how underneath her warrior shield, she is compassionate and her love doesn’t have limits for her sister. Thus, her heart is driven by a revenge mission where twists and turns that kept me on the edge throughout the story won’t stop her from finding the truth. She is willing to make a deal with the devil, and something wicked comes out of it.
If you love enemies to lovers, suspenseful and mystical world build, you need to read this book.

Straight away I knew I was going to enjoy the characters, Emilia being the narrator we follow started as a good girl, one who always followed the rules. Then you got her sister Victoria who thought rules were meant to be bent and tested. When Victoria is killed it changes Emilia making her determined to avenge her sisters death. This spur her too summon a demon, Wrath. One of the wicked princes. Together they have to team up and their two personalities clash making them fun characters too follow.
Definitely atmosphere there! We have witches dying, Demon princes walking on earth, tension between the two main leads. The writing is great building the world and the setting making you fully immersed in the story.
Great, great plot this is my kind of read and was exactly what I was looking for. Paranormal, Fantasy romance, bringing interesting characters, a world you want to know more about, mystery intrigue and romance.
The reveal and ending left me hungry for more...
I really enjoyed this book, it exactly what I was hoping for going in and I wasn’t let down will definitely be picking up the sequel.

First of all I must begin this review with a confession........I am 100000% guilty of buying this book because of the pretty cover!! Prior to this read, I had not read anything by Kerri Maniscalco but I have already added Stalking Jack the Ripper to my wishlist!
Right so let's get to Kingdom of the Wicked. I loved the change of setting from the typical fantasy type book, with the Mediterranean flare and portrayal of a classic Sicilian close-knit family. Nonna, as typical, is the book of knowledge and her love for the twins is beautiful. As for Vittoria and Emilia, their relationship ticks just about every box that we love to see between siblings: secrets, jealousy, love, betrayal, sacrifice. Without giving too much away, the element of grief in this book pulled my emotions apart and left me close to tears on multiple occasions.
Besides the completely absorbing family relationship, get ready for the dark and mysterious relationships that burn like hell itself. That's all I shall say in that area....
If I haven't already made it clear that I completely loved this book, I'm sure will soon. Maniscalco has captured ever sinful desire and personified them into addictive characters that leave you wanting more and more. I often found myself under the spell of the Princes of Hell! And then the cliffhanger...! I can't put into words how much I NEED to know what happens next and I have no doubt that book two will be even better than the first!
