4.0 out of 5 starsIf you read the one star reviews don't let them put you off this book
Reviewed in Australia on 21 May 2021
Now, I am a reader of one star reviews before I buy a book so did the same with this one. What I read there nearly put me off so I just wanted to address some of the things that were mentioned in those reviews.
1. If you don't like sex scenes don't read romance novels, this is a story about a woman who hires a male escort so I'm not sure what people were expecting. I know that there are the sweet genre Romance novels out there but I'm pretty sure that you can tell that this is definitely not one of those from the blurb so to criticise it for this is just ridiculous. That being said there was not nearly as much sex in the book as I thought there was going to be, yes there was a bit but it was in line with a lot of romance that I read and I read probably near to 200 books a year.
2. Several people mentioned Fifty Shades of Grey in their reviews which is the thing that actually nearly put me off reading this book. This book is in not related to 50 Shades of Grey in any way shape or form so completely disregard those reviews. If you are like me this is a good thing as in my personal opinion fifty shades is seriously overrated trash. Sorry if that offends anybody.
3. The last thing that more than one reviewer mentioned was about the author not having done her homework about Asperger's. If the reviewers had read about the author they would know that the author has Asperger's and for anyone who does know anything about it knows that it is called a spectrum for a reason. I don't think I need to say anything more about that.
So having gotten my grievances out of the way with the reviews I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it .

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant story

Absolutely adored this story. I remember voting for it in the Goodread's awards one year. Not sure why it took me so long to read it. I love how the author has handled her MC having Autism Spectrum Disorder. So good to read a book where the main characters aren't perfect. This felt more real to me. I loved it and would highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wholesome. Amazing. Enlightening

The Kissing Quotient is a warm and wholesome book where the MC is autistic and is navigating how to have intimate relationships with others. To do this she seeks out an escort, who just so happens to be the Godly man that is Michael Larsen! Not only is he a great and caring person, he is also a designer, but the hardships of his family force him to set his dreams aside.
-
Stella having Asperges isn't the main focus of her character which makes it all the better. She is a strong and caring woman, who is not only excellent at her job as an econometrician but also has such determination and resolve to try her hardest and do her best within social norms despite how difficult it may be for her due to her autism.
-
Although her autism is not the main focus, it is highlighted in the sense of showing those who may not know the triggers or feelings of someone who is autistic, such as the irritation clothing can cause or the fact that abrasive sounds can cause strong reactions of panic. Not all of these feelings may relate to everyone, but it is good to discuss them so that we all can keep them in mind and be more understanding.
-
Stella’s openness to people and her surroundings is innocent in the most endearing way, as she lacks the air of judgement someone of her class may have and give off to those around them. Even though she can be written off by the labels she holds, she does not allow that to translate to how she treats others.
-
This book is wholesome and warm, but there is certainly no lack of spice. Michael is understanding of Stella’s reservations, however that certainly doesn’t stop them from being consumed by each other in every way.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a reverse "Pretty Woman" story that is so cute an perfect

I absolutely loved this book. and I think I might have found a new author to follow :) The story centers around Stella an woman with Asperger's who hires a male escort (Michael) to teach her how to interact during sex because she feels that she is bad at it. It's a reverse "Pretty Woman" story that is so cute an perfect! I don't believe I've read a romance where the two main characters are so like-able. They are soooo cute together. They have inside jokes, they laugh, they flirt, and they are not perfect. They both have internal issues and insecurities they they need to get over to truly love each other and beauty of it is they both have the same problem and the same solution. Love yourself so you can love others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely charming!

The Kiss Quotient is a contemporary romance where the female lead has Asperger’s, and she wants to learn how to be in a romantic relationship. Consequently, she hires the male lead to teach her how to exist in one. The hijinks ensue from there.
The Kiss Quotient is a nice addition to the world of romance. One of the main characters is not neurotypical, and the other is a person of color, and that is a refreshing change of pace. The author really managed to sweep me off my feet, and I really enjoyed getting to know Stella and Michael. Their relationship seemed genuine, and I was cheering them on the whole way. I also really enjoyed getting to know Stella’s and Michael’s family members; it fleshed out the world in a great way. Pretty much everything about this book was utterly charming, and I couldn’t put it down. I think there is supposed to be another book in this world, and I can’t wait to read it!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding

As someone who works with individuals on the spectrum I was interested to see where this book would go with the main character. Once I started reading though I fell in love with Stella. Her determination and genuine head make you fall in love with her.

And Michael....whew! What a great book boyfriend. His compassion towards Stella in their beginning love scenes almost made me cry.

I understand this is a debut novel. I thought it was outstanding and read it in a day. However I don't agree with the exorbitant price. $9.99 for a debut novel? Who do these publishers think they are!

So that is why I have it only four stars.
