A Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover comes a novel that explores life after tragedy and the enduring spirit of love.
When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.
Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

Review
“Surprising and emotionally tense, this paranormal romance is sure to entertain.” ―Publishers Weekly
“[Hoover’s] first foray into paranormal romance does not disappoint. Peppered with elements of mystery, psychological thriller, and contemporary romance, the novel explores questions about how quickly true love can develop, as well as the conflicts that can imperil even the strongest connections…fast-paced and engaging…A unique story of transcendent love.” ―Kirkus Reviews
“The love between Leeds and Willow has a very appealing, slow build, while the many plot turns will keep readers guessing through to the shocking resolution.” ―Booklist
“Hoover blends thrills, fantasy, and romance into one captivating story.” ―Bookish
“Feel free to send Hoover your increased electric bill because you’re going to be keeping the lights on late to stay up and read this one.” ―E! Online
“[A] beautiful spine-chilling novel.” ―Her Campus
“[A] thrilling paranormal romance.” ―Buzzfeed
“You should read this book if you like: Romance with paranormal echoes, gentle thriller-type elements, mysteries, dubious B&B vacations, plot twists, big reveals, true love…” ―Goodreads
“Hoover brings her trademark poignancy and addictive prose to the novel, and the bulk of the plot is based in real tragedies and emotions enough that even the more fantastical elements feel real.” ―BookReporter --This text refers to the paperback edition.

I didn’t love Leeds, but I loved Layla! The characters come with more twists than a rollercoaster but that’s what we love about Colleens books!
This romance was between Leeds and Layla. They met when he played in the band at her sisters wedding and from night one they were off the scales compatible. Their relationship progressed rapidly each believing they were soul mates. Following a tragic event which saw Layla fighting for life, her physical and mental well being were drastically impacted. Suffering anxiety attacks and amnesia Layla was no longer the girl he'd fallen in love with.
As Colleen Hoovers story unfolded I was putty in her hands. One moment I was falling for Leeds thinking he's adorable in the way he loves Layla and cares for her, so protective. Then in the very next chapter I'd be questioning his morals, thinking he's a cheater, or worse - abusive and completely using Layla. But then he'd be sweet and I'd be convinced he couldn't be a bad guy. Combining the twists, which were cause for some anxious moments, with the Romance to offset these was clever. Throwing in the Paranormal element took it to a whole other level which to my very great surprise worked well.
You'll know from my words whether this is one you might like to try or whether you should steer clear of it. Ghost stories and the paranormal are not my usual fare but in Collen Hoovers hands I was quite easily converted and thoroughly enjoyed the story.
I’m dazed and confused…
I’m not sure I know what just happened…
With that said, I liked it. Actually, I liked it a lot.
Anything Colleen Hoover writes I will read even when it’s not my usual genre.
And I LOVED every minute of it.
The way this book was written was just amazing Colleen you have done it again.

Layla and Leeds were good together and their love transcending time was beautiful. The moment you find your soulmate you know. Life and death cannot separate true love.
I also feel that more time was needed to spent on Leeds life prior to Layla for the reader to feel the true affect of the story. I think with this element factored in the story would’ve had more impact.

Leeds our main character is a self absorbed jerk who doesn't deserve Layla anyway. They meet at Layla's sisters wedding and he plays in the wedding band. He notices her straight away and their romance starts from there.
Layla seemed like a free spirit and too good for him. She didn't care what people thought of her and enjoyed life. She genuinely loved Leeds and would do anything for him.
A dramatic event happens which changes the story for the rest of the book. I hated it from this moment. Leeds becomes so manipulative and abusive to who he thinks is Layla and starts using her to get to Willow the ghost in the house.
The ending was redeeming as in it makes it less bad.
I just really hated this book and I hope she doesn't do anything like this again.

So even if you don't think this book is for you, it is, everyone needs to read this it really will draw you in.
Fantastic story line, took me through the emotions (oh I was so angry with Leeds) kept me on edge right to the end, even though I actually felt scared to read the end at one point because I knew my heart was going to pound.
Thank you Colleen
