Graham Norton has been entertaining audiences and having fun with some of the world's biggest stars for nearly 20 years. He is loved across the nation for his delight in the peculiar and for his ability to find humour and a common ground in all that life brings.
The Life and Loves of a He Devil is Graham's funny and honest memoir on the theme of love. As he shows, it's really the things you love that make you who you are and so Graham tells his story from his Irish childhood to the present day, describing just what and who he loved - and sometimes lost - as a young boy, and his new loves and obsessions - big and small - as he's grown older. It's been 10 years since his last book and, being a decade older, Graham has come to realise that what makes a life interesting is less what happens to you and more what inspires and drives you, what you love....
From Dolly Parton and dogs to wine and Ireland, Graham tells of his life and loves with characteristic humour and outrageous candour.

When somebody is professionally funny, often with a large script-writing team behind them, their book could be a terrible disappointment or so painfully, self-consciously attempting to make you laugh that it just makes you cringe. Norton doesn't do that. The voice is authentic, the self-doubt and self-deprecation seems genuine, and he reveals enough of his weakness (alcohol, unsuitable men) and family pride to make you think he's a good guy on the page as well as on your screen

So Chapter 1 is Dogs, the dogs of his childhood, and his two happily still current dogs, blonde labradoodle Bailey and ginger ex-rescue terrier mix Madge. Bailey is on the cover, with his head at Graham's shoulder on the bed I thought 'Oh he's not as big as I expected' ... then I realised he was lying, not sitting. He's big.
Graham takes us through his life through Ireland, New York, Divas, Men, Work, Booze and a summary of his top picks for Room 101, Things I Love To Hate.
It's very amusing, Graham writes as he speaks, which is very, very well indeed and you never have a sense of not hearing his genuine voice.
He is a bit of a he-devil, yes, but also a caring and thoughtful person, exactly the person you want to give you a balanced view of a thorny personal problem. No wonder his problem page and radio agony aunt spot, Grill Graham, are so successful. A lovely, funny, warm and thoughtful read.
Thanks, Graham.

So I can happily recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read but for relaxed owners of labradoodle puppies, then it may not be for you!

I ended up not finishing it which is most unlike me. However I was in a bit of a general niggly mood for the few days I read it in bed. As I read, the more I actually disliked this person! I know we can’t all be friends with everyone but if writing about yourself at least try to cover up the fact that you are a bit of a conceited self centred knob! Too much?
