Terrible.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 February 2020Verified Purchase
Truly terrible writing. No morale in the book. The nanny hides her style/character from the parents and does the most obscure things like trying moms clothes?! Seruously, since when is this sitters acceptable behaviour? Not to mention her complete lack of responsibility - napping while the kids tidy up, giving them food they are not supposed to eat, purposefully disregarding parents I instructions for fun? I realise it is kids book but even in fiction there should be some reason.

I just dont get this book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 January 2021Verified Purchase
I find this book quite hard to red with my daughter aged 7. What I find hard is that if you take things at face value, Marge is a rude, messy and totally irresponsible adult and what I feel is second-hand embarrassment for her and for the whole book. My daughter finds the book ok, but opted to read more Blyton instead. Cant blame her. Cannot really see the fun in putting hair dye as a face mask for example. Or braking clothes and offering inedible food to children. To me a funny book means writing about things that are funny also in real life or at least could be, not braking things, making a mess and being irresponsible. Mummy fairy and me for example and Isadora Moon are much better books for this age group.

Loved it!

This is a great read and thoroughly enjoyed by both my 6 and 8 year old. The stories are brilliant fun, with great wit and humour. My only criticism is I wished the chapters were a little shorter or that there were more natural breaks in the text - we found the chapters were too long for a bedtime story and had to be split over 2 or 3 nights.
Can't wait for more Marge stories though, don't keep us waiting too long!

Captured the attention of a reluctant reader!

I lent this to a reluctant reader in my Year 4 class, who finds reading difficult - and she loved it. She kept telling me every morning about what she had read the evening before.

My 7-year old loves the Marge stories.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 January 2020Verified Purchase
Definitely at the mid-advanced level for a 7-year old and certainly more advanced that her school books but isn't that the point. They are page turners and she wants to finish them which is encouraging. I certainly feel Isla Fisher should write more.
