About the Author

Kim is the bestselling author of psychological crime thrillers 'Safe With Me,' 'Blink,' 'Liar,' 'The Mistake' and 'The Visitor.' This story was so bloated I managed to ignore 30 Chapters and still pick up the plot and work out the ending. It is not a jaw-dropping psychological thriller. If the story was as good as the reviews it would have been worth reading , alas it was not. A very valuable lesson learned, do not buy any more of this author's books.

Oh, where do I start with this book? It reeled me in from the very first page. I was hooked and little else got done while I was reading it. As ever, the writing was impeccable and the characters expertly drawn. There were so many times that I thought I had it all figured out only to be taken in another completely different direction. I became so involved with the characters in this story I messaged the author to ask for the ending I hoped I was going to get. The moment I pick up a book by this author I know I’m in safe hands and that I am going to be taken on a twisty, turny, thrilling journey with an ending I won’t see coming. Totally recommended as are all the books written by KL Slater.

Bridget lost her only son ten years ago when his best friend Tom punched him once outside a nightclub, killing him with one blow. Now ten years later, Bridget ha her life back in track with her charity, new house and new husband....Tom, the man who has just served ten years in prison for killing Jesse...her only child.

This book had me gripped. I really enjoyed how the characters were fleshed out within the storylines and how the author brought them to life so vividly. I would highly recommend this book and am off to find more from the author!

This book had me gripped right from the start. Bridget marries Tom who 10 years ago killed her son. They marry just before he is released from prison for the killing knowing it will have devastating affect on both their families. The ending was a complete surprise. I have loved all KL Slater's books and this book is outstanding. Read this you won't be disappointed.

The scenario described in the blurb raised my doubts as to the credibility of the storyline, but because I have read and enjoyed all of Kim’s books I preordered anyway.
On reflection, I honestly feel this not to be her best. I definitely needed to suspend belief to read to the end.
I am left puzzled over two things. First, I don’t believe it qualifies as a “psychological“ thriller at all. It’s much more about exposition of lies and deception within and near to a family.
Second, the sudden turn around request for a spot of child sitting, staggeringly agreed to by one of the “wronged” characters In an emergency, defied belief. This thoroughly spoilt the final quarter for me because I just couldn’t get past my own incredulity.
I award 3 stars because Kim can still intrigue and lead you by the hand, accomplished writer that she is.
