Product description

PC gamers are able to upgrade their graphics card, while console gamers have been limited by locked hardware. Not anymore! The mClassic is here to be the world's first add-on graphics processor for video game consoles. It is like having a new “graphics card”, without the hassle of modifying your game console. 4K/1440p UP-SCALING: We upscale half a million pixels to 2 million pixels (SD to HD), 2 million to 8 million (HD to 4K Cinema), no compromises on color processing. Result is cleanest, clearest image for both modern, legacy content. ANTI-ALIASING: On TV images shimmer or appear “jaggy” looking like stairs from square pixels trying to create a curve. Our algorithm fixes sharp edges and textures to show images as they should appear. The mClassic solves the problem. DEPTH OF FIELD: Photographers make a “wow factor” to images by shooting shallow depth. The mClassic's algorithm performs this automatically thus refocusing spots and focusing others into a lovely blur creating the best possible picture. IMAGE SHARPENING: Graphics processors focus “sharpness” or “naturalness”. The mClassic creates a perfect balance. NO LAG: The mClassic graphics post-processor analyzes and improves every single pixel for the most beautiful image with no-lag.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, expensive. Recommended for older consoles.

Overall, a decent product considering its ease of use, albeit a little expensive. HDMI on the dongle is a little loose when plugged into console compared to HDMI cable, can fall out easier with any movement. Anyways, for PS4 I didn't see much of an improvement at all, I had to look for the changes. Not worth the price for modern consoles. However for PS3 it really shines. PS3 outputs most games in 720p. The Mclassic upscales it to 1080p, and sharpens the jagged edges while adding a smoothing effect. It's rather impressive, and looks much better on a 55" 4K display than the raw 720p. Although, not every game on PS3 benefitted as much, it was sort of a hit or miss. The games I found to benefit the most were open world or smaller open sandbox style games. 2D pixel art, or even 3D side scrollers weren't as impressive. Scenery containing defined edge objects like trees, bricks, rocks, tiles, etc had noticeable improvements. Jagged lines on a longsword for example that should've been straight, appears cleaned up too.

Additionally, I did try the product in conjunction with my Retrotink 2X for PS2. It did "Smooth" out the jaggys a little more. But it didn't impressive me as much as it did for the PS3. Perhaps the Retrotink 2X Pro would be a better candidate to combine it with.

I plan to try the product with a PlayStation Vita TV, where I expect some improvement there as well. Overall I recommend this product for consoles that output 720p and below. For consoles that are already 1080p, the benefits are so minimal that it doesn't justify the price. I heard people with 1440p monitors have found a benefit utilizing the Mclassic with PS4. But I can't test that as I don't own a 1440p monitor.
