I still see bits of it when I`m trying to sleep. Never seen such an upsetting film. Sweden? I lived in Finland mot of my life and went over there. Have danced around a Midsummer pole. Swedes don`t wear white , there was a bit of Swedish which I understood.
There was a lot of really horrid happenings. What was it really about?
Even the landscape was wrong, and the wild flowers. Years ago I watched a film "The Bear" or "Bear" supposedly set in British Columbia, a place I had lived in. I said to my husband "Those are not BC flowers". We stayed for the credits, It was filmed in Switzerland.. We were warned about the gore, but not the nudity. It did not bother me. but might upset Americans.

Product description
Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.

Not as good as the Theatrical Cut (included) the Directors version is too verbose with some events while the cinema version is slightly veiled and implicit with many foreshadows. Count the Directors as a bonus to the Theatrical and everything is hunky-dory. A quality film from a talented director of very disturbing subject matter. Definite parallels to The Wicker Man, in my view anyway, drawing some of the best aspects of the older and newer incarnations. Not exactly a horror more a study of what happens when two cultures with accepted practices and standards clash.
Watch out for the hammer grandad, you missed the rock!

I watched the Director's Cut on Blu-Ray...something I shall eternally regret. 3 hours of my life wasted.
Before they all trotted off to wherever it was, the leading lady was clearly unwell and seen to be taking a tablet from a large tub in her cabinet. "Ativan 2 mg"..and the label said "Take as needed" or words to that effect. Well, if anybody takes 2 mg of lorazepam as often as they like, they may well fall asleep, die, or perhaps have hallucinations - which is the only think I can think of to explain what followed. A "Bad Trip" induced by an overdose of benzodiazepine tranquilizers. I needed one after this! Trouble is, you don't "Trip" as such on those, although they did start digging up mushrooms a little later on..
A silly, horrible waste of time, money and plastic. Let's hope it's bio-degradable. I'm going to leave it on a sunny windowsill and see what happens.
I fully appreciate that I am in the minority, but come on guys.
If you want a decent horror, there's plenty out there. This was just silly. Very, very, silly..

Worst film ever contender

Why do people think this is something clever, it's pure and utter rubbish. Pretentious tripe. Loved hereditary but this is just shocking, completely bizarre but film buffs pretend they are really 'with it' by praising this
