I am very happy with my purchase, the product was exactly as advertised, and it arrived four weeks earlier than the estimated delivery date. There are no subtitles as has been reported by others, and I am enjoying watching my favourite Miss Marple again.

Joan Hickson has always been my favorite Miss Marple. I'm English and she is what the villagers near my home used to call 'A Right Pussy' meaning a nosy individual. No other actress has even been anywhere like the Miss Marple described by Agatha Christie.

I was very disappointed that you are unable to turn off the Dutch subtitles on all of the discs, it is annoying but I managed to watch them. The packaging which had a strong outer box had all the six discs stacked on top of each other and were very tricky to remove without bending them. Not that happy with my purchase, but I do like Joan Hickson otherwise I would have returned them.

just as Christie wanted her to be

Although I know Agatha Christie preferred Margaret Rutherford, surely she was long gone before Joan Hickson played Miss Marple....I know people have complained that they arent as sharp but I like the slightly hazy appearance -- is more nostalgic...we got them to watch over Xmas....lovely...I hate these newer telly versions of lip curling themes of drugs and child abuse ....give me Joan Hickson any day

The packaging is problematic, dvds being piled one over the other, making it difficult to extract, with the bother of breaking or bruising one when taking them off their box.
These are dvd video standard not adequate to all dvd readers.
Subtitling is dutch solely which is a problem with people not familiar with this language and may not suit english reading viewers.

Wonderful

Absolutely love this, I was a bit worried when I saw the cover of the box set was in what looks like German, I was afraid the language would be in German, but it's not. The subtitles aren't in English, but you just need to switch the subtitles off, and you are able to watch the marvelous Joan Hickson in the perfect role for her. Can't believe how cheap this was, I'm over the moon 😁

3 programmes NOT 2, have Dutch subtitles that cannot be turned off
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 July 2020Verified Purchase
The product description was inaccurate, as there are three Miss Marple films for which you cannot turn off the Dutch subtitles, not two, as described. I have had lost of hassle trying to arrange a refund and return of the goods.
I was advised that the address below, provided by the seller, is a freepost address. I went to the post office and they said it is not a freepost address, and I would have to pay. As I was not prepared to pay to return faulty goods, and had had enough bad service, I put the package in a postbox. Whether it arrives safely back with the seller is their responsibility, as they should have provided me a freepost address, as requested.
