This is a movie about nothing, nothing happens, the main character's arch is undeveloped and uninteresting, the photography seems very nice, but the camera work is lazy and mediocre. Honestly, don't waste your time watching this movie. Henry Golding is very good delivering an stoic (and undeveloped) lead, but that's about it, all other performances fall short.

If you are not into slow developing movies don't take this one on. The director takes a very somber issue and let's the viewer feel the weight of the long reaching horrors of Viet Nam through various lives that intersect. I felt the director was fantastic on how he approached creating the emotions of life. We see a young man returning to Viet Nam after 30 years with the ashes of his parents. We see a friend of that young man who survived the repatriation processes post-war. We see the son of an American Viet Nam vet whose father killed himself a few years earlier never being able to let go of the Viet Nam war. In a very abbreviated way we are left with the understanding of the victims of the war, victims even 30 years later.
