This blu ray does not have English language. It is only in German

This movie is a favourite of mine.
Imagine my disappointment when it arrived and would not play in English. The Amazon advert clearly states that it plays in English.
It DOES not
To make matters worse, I have been unable to return this bluray as the seller, Music Magpie, have refused to answer my messages to the regarding my return. I am unable to print out a label and simply asked Music Magpie to provide an alternative. They have refused to answer these requests.

Intriguing Supernatural Film
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 February 2019Verified Purchase
I do like a good supernatural film and when browsing my recommendations here on Amazon this caught my attention. It is supposedly based on a true story and events that happened in the late 60's. For me it was an interesting movie, but it doesn't really have any real substance as the story unfolds there seems to be a mish-mash of different supernatural events where there seems at one point prophecies, the next psychic events to more demonic happenings and this can confuse and lose the narrative or the purpose of the story. I did enjoy the film and I am still glad I purchased the film but I can understand why it is not considered a more popular movie. If you like a supernatural, like Richard Gere and take the film as a light intrigue then yes it is worth a watch.

Not scary as the critics made it out to be.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 February 2021Verified Purchase
Even though the film is claimed to be based upon true events at Point Pleasant, West Virginia, between 1966 and 1967, the film is not: “Heart-Stopping Scary,” as one critic wrote. And contrary to the News of the World’s critic, it does not: “Grip you and refuses to let go.” The film was weak and very disappointing. Sadly, Richard Gere’s portrayal was unconvincing, and the directing was very poor.

Eerie and disturbing

The Mothman Prophecies is based on the book of the same name by paranormal investigator John Keel. In my opinion the director, Mark Pellington, has done a fantastic job of cherry picking the most interesting parts of the book for this superb film. The story is set in a small town in West Virginia where a series of increasingly bizarre events took place. Richard Gere plays reporter John Klein who has recently lost his wife Mary to a brain tumor. He finds somehow himself in West Virginia and becomes engrossed in the happenings. This is a complex film which explores life after death, pre-cognitive ability and even extra terrestrials. The Mothman is barely sighted in the film which makes the story more credible. Laura Linney puts in a fantastic performance as Connie, the Town Policewoman who refuses to be intimidated by the Mothman or the weird going-ons. There is a real sense of paranoia, confusion and fear as the story unfolds. Definitely worth a second viewing.

German Blu Ray April 2016 warning!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 April 2016Verified Purchase
If you're on this page then I'm sure you'll already know what a great film this is, Richard Gere and Will Patton perform in a supernatural chiller that is wonderfully scored and acted throughout so my 4 stars reflect the film.
If you are here for the German Blu Ray issue, BEWARE!!. Forced German subtitles are mandatory on this release so while you watch the English soundtrack, you'll still have German subtitles displayed...
A region 2 Australian issue is due out in May 2016, if you're a fan of this film, it may be worth trying to track that down!
