I loved the moment that Ben and fallon met, the way their story unfolds with every twist and turn. I honestly couldn’t put this book down. The first time I read it I read in 2 hours. And now I drag it out and I read it every November 9. Colleen Hoover has done it again! This book takes me back to when I first read maybe someday ❤️ Can’t wait to finish all of COHO’s books!

GAH!! The words in this book! Like, ALL of them! I took every single one of them and burnt them into my brain. And I will repeat the process again, and again. The life lessons were endless. So much compassion and love has been embedded on the pages of November 9, I just can’t. No, really, I can’t.. It makes me want to cry from just, overwhelmed everything. November 9 has plopped itself right into my top #3 books read in 2015, and man, it has been a good year for books. But if I had to pick three books to walk away from 2015 with, this would be one, no question.

This is a truly wonderful and graceful story. The reader will simply fall in love with the main characters Fallon and Ben.

There is much emotion, angst, some humour, some really good kisses, and heart gripping moments.

This story at times is poetic - with words dancing with one another to create beauty and feeling.

Read it, you won't be sorry.

Holy wow!
I don't often write reviews as I kind of suck at it, but I just have to after reading November 9. I loved everything about this story ... I was instantly sucked in and invested in Fallon and Ben. The way they connected emotionally, the way they communicated, the humour! And I really appreciated this love story without the graphic, overly explicit love scenes. But yay for book worthy kisses!
This is the first book I've read by Colleen Hoover but it definitely won't be the last. Highly recommend. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Trashy tropes and shenanigans.
Reviewed in Australia on 13 September 2018
I loved reading this book. The Drama! I was hooked from the first line.

I think this book is great in illustrating that we are all fallible. Everyone makes assumptions, mistakes, and it is how we recover from these that defines our character.

All the characters are great: fully realised, they jump from the page, warts and all! You get clear character development from the cast too, so by the end you feel like you’ve gone through a journey, and it has changed you.

I really liked our protagonist, Fallon – her insecurities can translate to any girl with aspects of her body that she does not like. It was also great to see her get over her wallowing and deciding to make something of her career. That get-up-and-go attitude really resonated with me, and I instantly became invested in her story. That and the hilarious and sassy conversation with her father at the start of the book had me hooked.

As for the worst: I found Fallon’s love interest Ben to be a little long-winded, a little whiny, and a little over-expository. But I loved his character. I think the failings I had with his personality is another reason I deducted half a mark… Though he is tenacious, altruistic, and incredibly romantic. After finishing ‘November 9’ I decided his good traits outweighed the bad.

‘November 9’ is an easy read with some great wit. I did get a little annoyed and the small amount of swearing – and Ben calling Fallon ‘babe’ – but that is just a pet hate of mine and I didn’t let is sway my rating. Colleen Hoover weaves angst and tension in there as seamlessly as she always does, and one of the elements in her writing style that always has me coming back for more.

I would have rated this higher if something about the story didn’t creep me out a little. But that’s all personal. And I won’t discuss it here because I don’t want to spoil your reading experience with giving away the best part of the plot.

The discussion of ‘insta-love’ and other bookish elements was a great touch, using them as an underlying theme had me cheering. The pacing is well done too, even though it takes place over many years, you don’t get bogged down with too many irrelevant aspects not important to the main storyline.

I will say I did not see, or remotely guess the plot twist. I revelled in the drama. For me the ending was sweet, if a bit meh… but that is my personal taste given the situation, not the writing, how everything was brought to culmination. Again all of the issues I had with ‘November 9’ stem from my own reactions to the situations faced by Fallon. Another great title from CoHo herself and something I’d recommend to all faithful fans and lovers of contemporary romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A love story with a twist you won’t see coming!!

How exactly do I review this book? Wow, what an unusual story, a love story that only develops on November 9. This book had quite a few twists at the end, that I definitely didn’t see coming but Colleen was masterful in closing off the book beautifully, answering all the readers rising questions throughout the story.

A brilliant 5 ⭐️ from me!

Colleen Hoover was born to write! When you embark on a reading journey of which Colleen is the author you know it can only be one of greatness! Each of her stories and characters are unique. You become invested in it, always feeling like you are right there with the characters and you are captivated by each word from start to finish. We are sure we’ve all said it before “I feel like I am standing next to these characters living their lives.” Feeling as though their journey is real. November 9 comes marked with that stamp. CoHo books are beyond amazing.
Get ready for the feels, all the feels…

We both read this book in one sitting, we could not put it down. To say we experienced the “feels” is an understatement, our emotions have been put through a manic spin cycle. Be prepared, your thoughts will be held in a tug of war. You will be angry, sad, swooning, happy, giggling by the end your heart will be ready to burst and may break and then be healed again.
The twist and the secrets, oh my god!

Fallon and Ben are two beautiful characters who meet and have an instant connection, November 9 has a meaning for both of them separately and even more so together. The weight of their problems directs the intensity of the book. You can feel every struggle and how heavy their troubles lay on them.

As the years progress so do the lives of Fallon and Ben. The snippets and insights we get from both characters are just enough to keep you on your toes wondering how Colleen is going to connect their dots. To say we were shocked with where the book took us is an understatement. At one point I (Kayla) remember thinking this is some twisted work CoHo.

November 9 is one of those books for us where we couldn't write a review the way we normally do without giving away too much. You might want to make room in the freezer for your kindle or paperback so you can gather your thoughts. You will not be disappointed, you will be left wanting more!

5.0 out of 5 stars My recommendation: grab the tissues and clear your schedule because you wont be able to put down this book.

Fallon O’Neil is 16 when she is severely injured in a house fire. As an up and coming actress, her career is damaged after her burns heal but the scars remain. Fallon loses all self-esteem and confidence while wallowing in pity. That is until she meets Benton James Kessler, the day she moves to New York. A romance begins immediately but due to Fallon’s need to love herself and find herself, they agree to meet once a year on November 9th for the next five years with no contact in between.

CoHo does it again. She knocks it out of the park. Home runs all around. So far, her male protagonists eerily remind me of my partner. The perfectly imperfect male where no matter what he does and how bad it is, he still seems so perfect and so loveable. Even when you know you should be really mad or hate them, you cannot help but love them.

I instantly wanted to be Fallon’s friend. I wanted to boost her confidence, cheer her on and build her up. The more I got to know her, the more I wished that she were real. Even though she does wallow in her self-pity, she still is incredibly tenacious when it comes to her dreams and goals. No matter who tells her what she can and cannot achieve, she stills gives it all she can.

Ben the Writer is mysterious and I loved this element of him. Every once and a while there is a hint of something that lets you know that you don’t actually know everything about him.

Colleen Hoover sends you on an emotional roller coaster. I wish I could detail how the scenes made me feel but they only way to do that is by giving spoilers and I would much rather you just pick up the book and read it. She alternates from Fallon’s POV to Ben’s POV, which really works for this type of book. She also doesn’t detail the same things again and again, she just moves onto the next part but told from the others perspective.

Hoover makes you question what you would do in their situation constantly. She leaves you understanding both sides and personally, I still don’t know what I would do. CoHo also teaches you that love really does conquer all and not in a cheap cliché way but in a meaningful and thought provoking way.

My recommendation: grab the tissues and clear your schedule because you wont be able to put down this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book !!!
Reviewed in Australia on 14 December 2016
This is only my second Colleen Hoover book - I really enjoyed it but it didn't wow me. Her writing is impeccable and she is a great storyteller with a good imagination and I liked the premise for this story although maybe for me it was a little far fetched.
Ben and Fallon are both 18 and meet by "chance" on November 9. They instantly bond with each other, even though both have issues that need dealing with, we find out Fallon's problem straight away in the book, but Ben's comes much later on. Fallon is leaving California the same day to go and live in New York and the pair agree to meet on the same day every year for 5 years until they both reach the age of 23 when they will decide what will happen then in their relationship - if of course there even is one by then. Now for me this is where is was a little unbelievable - Fallon had much more restraint than I ever would have considering the circumstances and how much I really liked Ben's character. I found it frustrating at times because they agreed they would have no contact of any sort in between meeting up on that particular day and I just couldn't get my head round that at all. There were many times that I thought to myself just " get on with it " but in saying that what was written was very well executed, there were lots of drama, twists, up's and down's along the way as you can imagine over a 5 year span, it is an emotional read but it certainly didn't bring tears to my eyes and I'm a very emotional person.and we are told the story on November 9 each year with not a lot else in between. It is told in duel perspective which I always love because it gives you the reader so much more insight into what the characters are thinking and feeling at that time. I personally didn't see the ending coming or the twist leading up to it and to say I was slightly suprised was an understatement, but suprises are good - right ? especially in books and this book definitely got better in the second half and kicked up quite a storm near the end.
A good all rounder that of course I would recommend to read .

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing new story from Colleen Hoover!
Reviewed in Australia on 9 November 2015
You know, each and every time I pick up a Colleen Hoover, I say to myself "she can't do better than ..." (whichever is the last of her books I have read).

But each and every time she blows that thought right out of the water, and it was not different with November 9.

I loved the premise of November 9 - after a chance meeting, Ben and Fallon to decide to meet up on the same day every year for the next 5 years, but will have no contact for the rest of the year.

Told from Ben and Fallon's POVs, through trials and tribulations, through relationships, careers, lives in general, the reader can feel the excitement as November 9 comes around each year. The anticipation, the fear, the wondering - are they as wonderful as they remembered?

As the years progress, Ms Hoover does things to me

3rd November 9 - my heart breaks

4th November 9 - Ms Hoover rips my still beating heart out of my chest

Last November 9 - I swear she was trying to kill my by dehydration as I leaking so much!

As much as November 9 is a story about love, it is a story about friendship, loss, survival.

From the minute I picked it up, I could not put it down. I just needed to know what was going to happen to our lovelies as each year passed.

November 9 is a beautiful story that will at times break your heart, and needs to go on your TBR list!

I can't wait to see what Ms Hoover brings us next
