Conspiracies. Corruption. Serial killers.
You name it—I'm fascinated by it. My mom always blamed my overly curious and highly suspicious mind on my dad.
My incredibly overbearing dad.
Mr. No One Is Good Enough For My Daughter has been terrifying my dates since I turned fifteen.
College is my chance to be free from his control and date any guy I want.
I'm absolutely certain he would hate Slade Wylder—almost as certain as I am that I do too.
Since when have I shied away from trouble?
Slade fascinates me. He lives in a house I'm certain is haunted. His dog is trained as well as any guard I've ever seen. Rumor on campus is that he deals drugs. It would explain a lot.
But it doesn't explain why he saves me from my darkest moment.
It doesn't explain why I can't stop thinking about him.
And the explanation I finally discover is far more dangerous than any rumor.

No sign of a joey (baby kangaroo) in this book - maybe the next book Jewel? :)
But this! I loved livy, I loved the secrets & intrigue.. I love how wylder never wavered. There must be a sequel coming ... right...
What an amazing story teller this lady is.
Great story, great characters, all the feels. Loved it ♥️
Okay enough of the praise lets get to the deets of the story.
If you have read the first three books then you will know who Jackson is and if you haven't read them I have to ask WHY ???? Now don't panic because yes this book can be read as a standalone but for everything that's holy do yourself a favour and go one click and read the first three books because honestly you don't know what your missing. It will also give you so much more insight of the story and characters of Jackson and Jessica who are twins and what happened to them in the first three books, and you will be treated to meeting some unforgettable characters as well (sigh)
So Jackson's daughter is Livy Knight and this is predominantly her story. Livy is the most wonderful girl, free spirited, young, adventurous just like her father was when he was younger and has the loyal kind heart of her mother and aunt Jessica. Livy knows nothing of her father and aunts past until it changes her life forever when their past's come back to haunt them all.
Slade Wilder turns up one day with his German Shepard dog Jericho while Livy is in one of her lectures at college. Livy is intrigued and attracted to this stranger who is quite standoffish and cold towards her at first but Livy has set her sights on Slade and is very persuasive. God I adored Slade, he is such an anomaly of a man with his cold distant nature and yet that brooding alpha male lies underneath just waiting to pounce. What a guy, but why is he there, what are his reasons; boy you won't believe what you read !!! Sooooooo good.
I honestly never wanted this book to end. There are so many moments of absolute joy, then terror, then angst and more angst, love, hate, passion and sex, oh the sex!! Everything I thought this book would be exceeded my every expectation. I loved that we got a lot of Jackson in this story because in this book we see Jackson's vulnerable side of him being and dealing with being a father and yet the man is still so so BADASS, so sexy and I love love love him. We got a little of Luke ( I would have loved some more) but I will never get enough of that man as long as I live, and of course we got the ever living badass of them all, Jessica. Oh my heart, will it ever recover. Reading the ending of this book I am living with hope upon hope that Jewel has left it open for these wonderful addictive characters to return yet again, I really hope so because I'm just not ready to say goodbye.
If it's one thing you do before this awful year ends , then read these four books. That is all I'm going to say, apart from they are all brilliant in every way possible, will tear your heart out and bring emotions out of you you never knew you had.
"I will bend you so no man can ever break you. Then I will shape you into something stronger than you ever imagined."
Out of Love was a story that I never expected. I had a totally different picture in my head when I heard of this story. I could not turn away from the pages. It all unfolded brilliantly. I was completely enthralled with the way Out of Love was delivered. The author captured someone broken and complex and turned them into a hero who would die for his lady, a man that was irresistible and determined. A man in love. My head was scattered, but my heart was so full of these characters. An unforgettable story that seemed to be created just for me. Jewel E Ann wrapped all the things I adore in a romance in a pretty box tied with a bow. At times harsh and confronting. Other times so emotional it made my eyes leak. I was left a battered mess and I wouldn't have it any other way. Now I am lost and cannot find another story that packs this kind of perfect punch. I will never forget this unique and powerful story. 5 stars.
Out of Love can absolutely be read as a standalone, but the Jack & Jill trilogy by this author is one of my fav trilogies, and Jackson Knight (Livy's Dad) is one of the main characters from the trilogy. I loved Livy. I adored how she loved driving her control freak Dad Jackson just a little bit crazy.
Slade Wylder presents as a mystery to Livy, he's a real enigma and she's determined to figure him out. Livy is not at all put off by his unwelcoming attitude, that just makes her want to find out his secrets even more..........and does he have a lot of secrets!
I have to mention Jericho as well, he was a pretty awesome dog. Or Jerry, as Livy likes to call him. Out of Love was hard to put down once I started reading, just waiting to find out what was really going on with Wylder and then once the suspense started I was done for and had to read until the end. Loved it.

I loved the characters, I loved the story and I will always want more. Whoever read the ‘Jack and Jill’ series must read ‘Out of love’ like yesterday.. and if you didn’t read ‘Jack and Jill’ do it, and come back to read ‘Out of love’. Even though it could definitely be read as a standalone, the story just has so much more impact when you know where it all started.
This book has everything..mystery, love, sex, fun moments, sad moments, moments.. moments.. moments. I don’t want to go into details and spoil the story, because it deserves for you dive in head first.

This is a next generation book - very well written and, as usual with anything from this author, has plenty of twists and turns to tax the brain and pull on the emotions.
