About the author

Meghan M. Kiefer is originally from Seattle and received her bachelor's degree from Princeton in English with a certificate in African-American Studies. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha society. She completed her internal medicine residency training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in the primary care track. While at MGH, she received the MGH Senior Resident Teaching Award and the Harvard Medical School Excellence in Tutoring Award. She then completed a General Internal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Washington, obtaining a Masters in Public Health with a focus in health services research.
Dr. Kiefer is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Washington School of Medicine and works as a primary care physician and medical educator at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Her research interests are in patient education, focusing on health literacy and chronic disease management, and in medical education, particularly the factors that cause students to choose (or not choose) primary care.
