Loved the movie but disappointed I had to pay for it considering Stan and Netflix don't charge for Movies. Could have bought it from the shop.

I did not like that I need to pay extra to watch this and most other movies/shows. Why I am paying a subscription? I can pay same or less amount and watch in youtube without a subscription.

An enjoyable fun-filled movie. My favourite part was when Julia was flossing her teeth, which are very white & straight, which reminds me...

Who doesn't love a prostitute
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 July 2020Verified Purchase
This film combined my too favourite things, a prostitute and a love story.
I'm joking of course. I'm not a fan of love stories
Everyone has seen this film I am sure. So it comes down to the question around the transfer.
Adequate is what I would call it
It's better than dvd but it's not great.
You really do lack a lot of detail modern films have. This is an 11 year old transfer which to me resembles something of the early HD DVD transfers. Better than dvd but nothing special. Think 1080i not 1080p
It's £5.98 so well worth the extra cost to buy but don't expect to be amazed by it on your TV!

when two fake lifes meet
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 March 2022Verified Purchase
I enjoyed watching this romantic comedy.
Richard Gere (Edward) performed great, but Julia Roberts (Vivian) was not the right choice for her role, hooker.
Her general stance is not a hooker.
Edward is a New York corporate tycoon buying and selling companies. In one of his business trips, to Lose Angeles, he met with Vivian; a hooker.
He asks her to escort him for a week; Vivian's response was an instant yes.
She is to attend in his business socialising activities
But this deal twists to become a comic and romantic relation.
Vivian triggers some empathy in ruthless money & business minded Edward, even to his own surprise, which results changes in the way he is doing business.
And Edward also has an influence on Vivian who initially portrayed as classic hooker, and destined to be hooker.
Vivian can not deny to herself she is in love with him.
I think most impacting moment of the movie was at the end of the week where she rejects the payment from Edward just because Edward, unintentionally, reminds her that she is a prostitute.
That moment was so intense; her reaction was like as if her life was total fake. Movie is great to show some such instances.
I also loved some second characters performances, like Héctor Elizondo as Hotel Manager Barnard , as Elinor Donahue as Bridget in luxury women cloths shop.
It is a strong psychology movie with comic and romantic story
It shakes our strong attachments, flow of our life that could be all fake and fragile.

Great classical love story for 20th century
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 November 2015Verified Purchase
There is nothing to add to this movie. However, this version is better than the version released worldwide, as this anniversary version contains the deleted scenes which never should have been deleted in the beginning.
The chemistry between main protagonists, Richard and Julia are wonderful. Well written script, crispy conversation, and great supporting actors and excellent music, this movie was destined to become super hit classics.
Of course, in real world, this type of love never happens, Thus, humanity always yearn what they cannot attain. Great love story, totally different than AN OFFICER AND GENTLEMAN, but the essential theme is same, the purity of the women catches the hearts of men. All Glory to women all over the world.

I had a lot of fun with this movie, as it has really fun seres.
It's the movie that made Julia Roberts known around the world and she has an excellent performance as the protagonist, as well as her partner Richard Gere.
In the end, love overcomes all obstacles.

WHAT CAN I SAY?
The film continues to develop as the story progresses, showing the difference between two different levels of class (upper and lower). The characters chosen for this film are perfect, as they act with such passion, dedication and commitment it captivates the meaning of two people, from two completely different social backgrounds Julia Roberts acting is faultless, and she and Richard Gere have an excellent chemistry as the loved up pair.- they were made for these roles. This film shows that all types of women have dreams of a fairytale, and even though it doesn't always come true in real life, watching this film just gives you that uplifting feeling that someday it might.Pretty Woman is one of those films that stand the test of time with a lot of chemistry mixed with a touch of class.

HER ARE SOME Memorable Quotes For ((Pretty Woman))
Vivian: So, what's your name?
Edward Lewis: Edward.
Vivian: Really? That's my favorite name in the whole world.
-------------------
Vivian: I would have stayed for two thousand.
Edward Lewis: I would have paid four.
-------------------
Vivian: I appreciate this whole seduction thing you've got going on here, but let me give you a tip: I'm a sure thing.
-------------------------
Vivian: People put you down enough, you start to believe it.
Edward Lewis: I think you are a very bright, very special woman.
Vivian: The bad stuff is easier to believe. You ever notice that?
-------------------------
Shop assistant: Hello, can I help you?
Vivian: I was in here yesterday, you wouldn't wait on me.
Shop assistant: Oh.
Vivian: You people work on commission, right?
Shop assistant: Yeah.
Vivian: Big mistake. Big. Huge. I have to go shopping now.

Vivian: When I was a little girl, my mama used to lock me in the attic when I was bad, which was pretty often. And I would- I would pretend I was a princess... trapped in a tower by a wicked queen. And then suddenly this knight... on a white horse with these colors flying would come charging up and draw his sword. And I would wave. And he would climb up the tower and rescue me. But never in all the time... that I had this dream did the knight say to me, "Come on, baby, I'll put you up in a great condo."
