Yet, with the entire thing shot on location one also gets a feeling of abundance, of for ever seeing new sights filling the screen, of an awful lot being packed in as the cast - top class actors Robert Vaughn, Nyree Dawn Porter and Tony Anholt - caper around the early 1970s world of exotic Mediterranean locations, Alpine ski resorts ,the canals of Venice, major European cites, the dry plains of Spain, London and the Home Counties, British Rail trains and Dover with its Hover Craft. This gives a great look back to what the world looked like in the early 1970s and also adds to the authenticity of the drama.
In addition, looking at the writers and directors-Brian Clemens and Terry Nation, for example-lets you know that this series comes with writing and direction quality of such classic series as 'The Avenger', 'The Saint', 'The Persuaders' and 'The Professionals'.

Although the episodes are short,at around twenty-five minutes each, there is quite a lot of action crammed into that time. There is not a dull moment within any of the whole fifty-two episodes, and Tony Christie's theme song,Avenues And Alleyways,is a classic.

I think Robert Vaughn and his character Harry Rule really make the series but he's well supported, all in all a very good series and so much better than many things they put on the TV now
