Apparently, the original lead actress who played Matilda was replaced due to a scheduling conflict. Unfortunately, this change is more glaring than the disc problems. The new actress isn't as charismatic in the role, not to mention the makeup and terrible wig to make her look like the previous actress are quite distracting. I wish they had rescheduled shooting to accommodate the original actress's schedule. If I had known about this change, I would have waited to order the set until the price had gone down a lot.
All that said, the three stories told are engaging and enjoyable. The other characters are wonderful as well. I do find the larger arc storylines tend to drag a bit which is frustrating. I give the storylines and cast changes 4 stars with an additional star removed because of the audio problems with the discs (and that is generous, frankly).
I'm so tired of having to lower my standards of quality so a company can maximize their profits.
Does any manufacturer out there even care anymore??
Because everyone was talking about the change in one the main characters, I didn't have to suffer like they did to figure out what was out of synch.
The stories were great--they had their original series ebb and flow charm. The murders and the continued Raven mystery threads in each story were wonderful. I'm glad Julien Unthank (sp) the original writer was back and letting us see all the aunts different sleuthing styles at work. I'll watch them again with series 1. Can't wait for series 3!
My Spoiler Alert:
I think her mum is a Raven.
Love having this Raven in each episode--squawking and pecking on windows, esp. at night!
SPOILER ALERT: I was surprised after how series 1 ended with Matilda and Daniel not getting together, that I was glad that they kept them apart for this series. I think Matilda can do better than Daniel.
