5.0 out of 5 starsColleen Hoover is a master of her craft

Colleen Hoover is a master of her craft. This book was absolutely amazing- a rollercoaster of a ride.

The book follows the story of a mother and daughter as they navigate the loss of husband and father, as well as a sister and Aunty. A story of betrayal and coming to terms with what has happen. Discovering new relationships and how to carry on.

This book as all the feels - definitely have some tissues handy!

I finished reading this book but I struggled to do so.
The story was ok but a bit over the top in places.
Not really my cup of T.
Gave it 3 stars because I managed to read all of it .

Alternating view points of mother and daughter, both of who take ages to see the obvious, particularly the daughter. A happy ending, sorta!

3.0 out of 5 stars betrayal

I was actually a bit disappointed in this. Sad because I was expecting so much more. I like the idea of the storyline but there were times I just struggled to keep turning the pages. I also think the contents of the letters should have been revealed....so much left unknown this way.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking the punch of her best work

There’s no doubt Colleen Hoover is an excellent writer, but I’m coming to realise that the first two books of hers that I read - It Ends With Us and Verity - are just in a different league to the rest.

This one was similar to All Your Perfects in that I enjoyed reading it and I liked the characters but it lacked punch and was a bit too sickly sweet. There was no huge twist which I kept expecting (the front cover had me attaching significance to something which didn’t go anywhere at all), and the plot was predictable. Some difficult themes are explored but it all just felt a bit limp. The large focus on teen romance didn’t help, as it gave the book a very YA feel.

Regretting You is a romance after all and it does okay in that respect - I just think CoHo has set her own bar so high that there are bound to be disappointments, and this unfortunately is one of them.

I chose to read this book because it was the cheapest of Colleen Hoovers collection of novels. It was quite compulsive reading mainly because I wanted to find out how Morgan's husband and sister's affair began and how long it was going on. I was disappointed in not finding out what was in the secret love letters that Morgan's sister had written to Morgan's husband Chris because she had torn them into pieces after deciding not to read them so the reader was left in the dark about the why's and wherefore of their affair. This story seemed to be more of a Young Adult Romance because it centred more on Morgan's teenage daughter Clara and her new tentative relationship with her boyfriend Miller.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read Like a Mills & Boon

The story line was good, although I was expecting a twist at the end. Maybe to do with Jenny & Chris's affair which I thought might come out in the letters Chris had hidden, but they never came to fruition before being flushed down the toilet.

There was so much kissing! I rapidly grew bored of all the kissing and lip touching and started skim reading to escape all the boring parts.

A disappointing end to a promising start.

Firstly I want to just start of by saying I frikking love CoHo, her writing and stories are just stunningly beautiful, however this book in particular even though again the writing style is phenomenal, I just could not connect with the story and it just didn't do anything for me. There where times I really wanted to DNF this book but because it's Colleen I kept pushing myself to finish it off. It's safe to say this is my least favourite !!

This started with all the promise of a good story and I did enjoy it at the beginning and middle. However I became frustrated with the characters and just wanted them to talk to each other. I found the resolution weak and too sudden.

I usually love Colleen Hoover novels but it’s this one wasn’t for me. Just could not warm to the characters. Stuck it out, but not the usual speedy ready.

I’m not sure why this is recommended for young adults. My 16 year old daughter read it and said the writing style was bland and almost unreadably bad.
