Welcome here 22 more episodes of mind-boggling twists and turns, everybody with secret agendas, no guarantee all will survive.
As ever, critics can easily have a great time ridiculing storylines so flimsily contrived, loopholes abundant, unconvincing characters suddenly brought in to boost things up a bit. Such detractors are missing the point. "Revenge" is deliberately a glossy outrageous offering in the tradition of "Dallas", "Dynasty" and "The Colbys", viewers invited to sit back and enjoy every absurdity. (At least nobody here has taken off in a flying saucer, as happened in "The Colbys".)
The cast is having a fine time - as revealed in a bonus where the five main male actors sit round a table looking back on the season.
Will evil Conrad and Victoria at last get their comeuppance, Emily be truly satisfied?
Seemingly not, as there is to be a Season 4.
This may worry some dedicated fans. The ingredients were all here for a superb end to the series, just minor adjustments needed to make it so. Let this not be one of those shows which does not know when best to end, but simply drags on with diminishing returns.
Season 3 contains great moments - the wedding, and event-crammed finale included. Sadly there are also too many easy ways out of various situations, too many creaking contrivances. Surely, for example, it is time to call a halt to so many dads, mums, brothers, sisters, sons, former lovers turning up out of the blue?
It will be interesting to see what Season 4 has to offer.
