Product description
The complete first season of the Italian crime drama based on the novel by Italian judge Giancarlo De Cataldo. The series follows the dealings of an organised gang of drug dealers, led by Libanese (Francesco Montanari), Freddo (Vinicio Marchioni) and Dandi (Alessandro Roja), as they gain control over Rome's heroin trade. As well as coming up against each other from time to time, the group also have to compete with other local criminal syndicates with similar illicit interests.

Love, love LOVE this! It is just brilliant...

Unbelievably good. Gritty, gnarly storylines to get your teeth into - sometimes not for the faint-hearted, but certainly no gratuitous violence in my (usually quite squeamish) opinion. As a young adult in the late 1970s, I can also vouch for the accurate 'look' and feel of the characters and places. Real, human characters, not just stereotypes, and surprisingly moving and witty at times. Superbly acted by a brilliant ensemble cast. Still fizzing from it, and can't wait to watch it all again (just started series 2, which is turning out to be every bit as good). Thanks have to go to the Guardian newspaper for giving the heads up on this in their 'next box set' series.... Just LOVE it!

Italian magic

Took a total gamble on this series as had never heard of it. Absolutely sucks you in to the characters which are all the more authentic when speaking Italian ( with subtitles of course!). Follows a criminal gang through the 70s to the 90s. Pleased to see there is a series 2. Can't wait!

The real deal if you like crime movies

Excellent production with a fast paced story, based on real events and characters you empathise with if not agree with. Well acted with no attempt to glamourise the criminality. This held my attention throughout the series and I did not even notice the subtitles. I ordered the second series as don as I finished the first.

A must!!!

Absolutely superb, this is going to be a cult classic. Superb acting and direction with none of the, 'wiz bang thank you mam' triviality of American series which have seriously lost the plot. Loved it and am now into series 2.
