I’m not too sure why there’s been issues for other reviewers on here as I’ve been playing this (a lot!) over the past couple of days and had no lag problems, game crashes or sound out of sync. This has run smoothly and perfectly.

As a 36 year old gamer who grew up in the console wars (I was actually a Nintendo fan with a NES and SNES but played the Megadrive a lot at friends houses back in the day) this amazing collection has brought back so many fond memories of some absolute classics. My favourites being Sonic 1 & 2, the Streets of Rage trilogy, Altered Beast, Golden Axe trilogy, Sonic Spinball, Columns, Gunstar Heroes and many more and they’re all here in perfect emulation and even better than ever with their screen filters.

In addition there’s also online mode, local multiplayer, challenges, rewind, save states - so much more than I could have hoped for in an already very impressive collection that is just a bargain for what you get. Playing in handheld mode is also dream come true for a retro gamer like myself.

The Switch is really proving to be a perfect home for retro games (with this, the NES classics, Street Fighter Collection etc) and I am loving it.

Game Crashes

I had this on pre order....it arrived early which was fabulous.....not so in the playing of the games though.I've tried Sonic,Toejam & Earl and Street Fighter and in each of these 3 games it crashes about 1 minute in and reverts back to the games catalogue library which is very frustrating. In all I've lost patience after about maximum 60minutes play time over 3 sessions.I'm sending back as it is a complete disappointment though it is about the most authentic rewrite of many Sega versions I've seen over the last years in various modes......shame it doesn't have durability.I will watch with interest to see how others fare.

There seems to be VERY SLIGHT input lag on the sonic 1 like other users mentioned (I'll load up my original megadrive and check the difference) but I had no issue with any others. There are plenty of options/filters/borders and added challenges/trophies, works out to 0.58p per game which is a bargain!

It arrived 2 days ago already spent 6 hours playing classic megadrive. Others have mentioned problems with the frame rate on sonic I haven’t found this at all, although I updated the game immediately. You can save on 4 slots for each game and play online too.

The game range could be a touch better: I would have had Terminator 2, Mortal Kombat, Ecco the Dolphin and Sonic + Knuckles as well. Although sega might not own the rights to some of these. It is definitely the best Sega megadrive collection I have bought. Love Alienstorm, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Decap Attack and Sonic especially. When you consider how many games you get for the price it is worth it. Sonic 1 alone is £5.99 on the nintendo market.

This game got about 2 hours of my time before it got returned. All the mega drive classics ruined by serious control delays. Considering majority of games from the mega drive era rely heavily on timing, the cotrol delays make it almost impossible to play any of the games. Golden Axe and Sonic appear to be affected the worst. But all have the problem at some degree.
