If you are a parent of 5-6 year old kid, and you want to introduce him/her to the wonderful game of chess, this book may be what you are looking for. Chess Fairy Tales is a book that aims to inspire kids to play chess through short stories in which the heroes are Knights and Pawns and Bishops, but also little boys and girls who discovered the game and are making the very first moves.

Kids who already play chess might find it inspirational as well.

Fairy Tales that have NOTHING to do with teaching or learning chess

Chess Fairy Tales feature chess only insofar as some of the characters in some of the stories are chess pieces - but they don't actually do anything chess-like in the story. There's a story about animals in a forest that play chess, but you're told they play chess - again you don't read about them actually playing chess or learning to play chess. There's a story about a dog who plays chess at a master level, but you never read about any games (and the moral of the story is that the dog gave up chess so that the other dogs would like him again). There's a story about "chess school" where students learn to stack rooks one on top of the other - seriously!? Serious waste of money! Sories aren't even decent stories, they're just stupid.
