I used to carry a synthetic Eno Pillow religiously for years to try to get a good nights sleep in the woods. I am a side sleeper and I cannot sleep without a pillow. I tried using my pack, food bag, extra clothing, etc, but I found that I needed a proper pillow to sleep well and I needed to usually add a fleece or my puffy jacked under it to get it high enough. Whatever I put under the synthetic filled pillow usually didn't stay in place well during the night either, so I would frequently wake up and readjust everything. That is until I got this Sea to Summit pillow. I initially looked at this as a way to save room in my pack as I was preparing for a section hike on the AT from Springer Mountain to Neal's Gap. When I received the pillow, I noticed that it took up 1/10th the space that my Eno pillow used to take. It was so light and easy to pack this pillow that I put it in my clothes bag and didn't even notice that I had added a piece of gear. Unfortunately, in the back of my mind I worried that it would deflate in the middle of the night, but that worry soon faded when I looked at how well it is constructed. Additionally, it was the perfect size to allow me to sleep on my side, without using anything additional to get it higher. I also liked the dual valve system that allowed me to fill it easily, but then quickly pull the second valve and deflate it very quickly. I liked that I could adjust the "firmness" with the amount of air that I blew into it and I especially liked that it held all the air all night! The pillow is slightly C shaped and I found that it stayed in place really well, even when I had it under my sleeping bag. I slept all through the night and woke up with no kinks in my neck. I highly recommend this pillow to anyone who wants a great pillow and an amazing night of sleep in the woods!
Had some reservations about this being thick enough for a side-sleeper (I'm 6'4" with wide shoulders), but this pillow is perfect. Incredibly comfortable, supportive, and definitely thick enough. The extra padding on top is a nice touch that keeps the pillow noise pretty darn quiet. The micro-adjustment valve is VERY handy for getting just the right amount of support.
There are things about this pillow that make it better than the cheap inflatable pillows. Still… it’s not a comfy pillow. My suggestion, inflate it about 75% and still use a small, cheap compressible with it. Good combination. I stuff this into the pillow compartment of my bag but still use a “fluffy” pillow for feel. I will say that this is miles above most inflatables.
It dis not work for my daughter. Purchased this product for my 12 year old daughter on a school field trip to Catalina. Indoor camping but unfortunately it was very uncomfortable for her to use. She only used twice but will return. Also when we received product first i inflated the pillow overnight but not using just to test & noticed the next day the air pressure on the pillow was lower.
This is the best inflatable pillow that I’ve ever owned. Super light weight, perfect for camping/ traveling, and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend especially with a sea to summit sleeping pad so the pillow lock feature can be utilized.
