The Secret Bridesmaid: The laugh-out-loud romantic comedy of the year! Kindle Edition
'Bursting with heart' Lindsey Kelk
'Filled my heart with joy' Paige Toon
Sophie Breeze is a brilliant bridesmaid. So brilliant, in fact, that she's made it her full-time job.
As a professional bridesmaid, Sophie is secretly hired by brides to be their right-hand woman, ensuring their big day goes off without a hitch. From wrangling rowdy hen dos to navigating last minute portaloo cancellations, there's no problem she can't solve.
So when she's employed by an actual Marchioness to help plan the society wedding of the year, it should be a chance for Sophie to prove just how talented she is.
Of course, it's not ideal that the bride, Cordelia, is rude, difficult and determined to make Sophie's life a nightmare. It's also a bit inconvenient when Sophie finds herself drawn to Cordelia's posh older brother, who is absolutely off limits. And when a rival society wedding is announced, things get even more complicated . . .
Can Sophie pull off the biggest challenge of her career, follow her heart and maintain her reputation - all while keeping her true identity hidden?________________________________

So, The Secret Bridesmaid is Birchall's adult fiction debut and I think she's created the quintessential cute British beach read. The book features a great cast of characters, witty banter and a dash of romance. I loved the humourous wedding-related scenarios and emails scattered throughout the book, as well as Cordelia's sassy attitude. But just know that romance is a subplot in The Secret Bridesmaid (I was hoping for more development in the romance department), as Cordelia and Sophie's slowly blossoming friendship is the main focus. Overall, I'd definitely recommend The Secret Bridesmaid to fans of British women's fiction.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC - all opinions are my own.
Sophie Breeze is an ‘official’ bridesmaid. She’s the person who fixes all problems, finds the elusive ‘thing’, calms the waters and makes the wedding day perfect....all with a smile.
She’s excited to be hired by Lady Meade, for her daughter Cordelia’s wedding. This will be the high society wedding to propel her business into those circles.
I loved this book, the characters were wonderful and not at all what you expected. Basically I found it to be so refreshing to have believable characters, with normalish lives. Cordelia obviously starts off being the bride from hell but as the book progresses, your perception of her changes and reasons for this are revealed.
This is a great rom com, chit lit book if your looking for those sort of genres. There are scenes that had me laughing out loud, reminiscent of the letter/diary entries in the Bridget Jones series.
Such a feel good book focusing on friendship with a little romance that doesn’t over take the story.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy to read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for making this book available to read.
Wow. It reminded me of a better version of 27 dresses, with an amazing cast. This was one of those books that keeps you up late into the night. It was funny, empowering, and heart-warming all at once.
I don't think I can say anything was lacking in this novel; it was just so easy to read.
I especially liked that it wasn't all about Tom too.
I can't remember the last time I read a book that so clearly should be a movie. The characterisation and scene pacing of this book would make a fabulous movie. There's a few scenes that were so perfect I just wish I see them played out in film. That said it reads well and I love the addition of emails to flesh out her life as a bridesmaid even though the book largely focuses on the single wedding of Cordelia. Everything was perfect and I'm really happy to have read this.
I'm not sure I'd recommend this book as a pure romance. While it has romantic themes, the relationship between Sophie and Tom is definitely a secondary plot to the main themes of getting Cordelia married without somebody dying. That said it is a great romcom and I would read again.
While in the book I kind of hated Cordelia's ex-friend Annabelle, I loved Sophie and Tom so much I'd happily read a sequel of that wedding.

With a good laugh out loud.
The second half not so much. It was very predictable.
I still enjoyed it but it got a bit mushy and lovey-dovey.
