Yesterday I was a teenager waiting tables in Manhattan, and today, monsters exist and I can see them.
Overnight I’m thrown into the realm of the Watchers, a society of earthbound angels split into two factions: The Shades, whose powerful dark magic is given to them by the fallen angels, and the Lumens, whose abilities are bestowed on them by the archangels of Avalon.
They’re on opposite sides of a brutal war, and I only have a few days to pick which side I want to join. I’m ready to choose when the Shades force my hand by cursing someone I love.
The only hope I have of saving them rests on the broad shoulders of the prickliest Shade alive, Gage Alston. He’s cold, arrogant, and quite possibly the most attractive guy I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Do I trust him? No.
Do I need him? Yes.
Do I want to kiss him? Maybe.
Perhaps I’ll choose darkness after all.

Firstly I just want to say I love anything that is affiliated with Ms Stone, I am a massive fan of her and have read everything she has written. So of course when I saw she had a new book coming out I was overly excited, and to top it off she had introduced me to a new author. (Double bonus).
What can I say that will do this justice. Going in I had an open mind as I said I love every thing by Ms Stone but not being familiar with Ms Hall’s writing I had no idea what to expect. Well I can say this with all honestly WOW! Just phenomenal, these two ladies work so well together that they were smooth and seamless, I had no idea who wrote what, so I just want to say well done ladies.
Shadow Angel follows Tatum as she works at a diner to take care of her Grandmother that is suffering from Dementia. When one night on her way home she sees something that can’t be explained. Being exhausted working at the diner at night and taking care of her Grandmother, Tatum passes it off as nothing more than needing more sleep. When she starts seeing more and more of these “monsters” she thinks she may just being going mad. But seeing these things is the least of her problems as she is thrust into a world she knew nothing about and unprepared for, she finds out things about her past that may just be her breaking point.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to get book two. Filled with action, suspense, drama, secrets, lies, betrayal and so much more. This book has it all.
Tatum is just trying to keep her head above water after she dropped out of school to work at a dinner to support her and her grandmother. Burning the candle a both ends is the explanation she tells herself for the scary things she's started seeing around the city. When she sees a bunch of teens on a train one who literally sprouts wings and the mysterious guy who turns up in her diner asking weird questions she waves it all of and questions if she's losing it but when the diner she works at is attacked by the same creatures she's been seeing over the city she can't deny that there's more to the world than she thought.
When the teens on the train and Mr mysterious are the ones to aid her she has no other option but to trust their help. With only days until she turns 18 she must pick a side in the war she never knew existed either join the Shade side with Mr mysterious those who work for the bad side or join the teens from Lumen who protect humans from the bad side. It seems like an easy choice but she can't deny the pull she has towards Gage especially after he saves her more than a couple times.
Tatum will unravel some hidden family secrets that'll make her question who she really is but with the clock running out she'll have to follow her heart.
It’s well written with such detail and emotion, I was completely sucked into the book. I honestly couldn’t put it down it was that great!
Love Tatum the main character, but my favourite it Gage - his is the one I can’t wait to see what direction his journey takes next.
Overall a fantastic read, can’t wait to read book 2
The only reason it's not a 5 star is because I reserve those for the few books I get completely addicted to. I was actually able to take a moment or two for my reality in this one, even though I adored the book.
I loved it so much it was worthy of a binge read can’t wait for more
Thanks for sharing your wonderful words and imagination with your readers

Shadow Angel: Book One (Shadow Angel #1)
Tatum has been raised by her Gran, her Mum died in a car crash when she was only a few weeks old. She has had a wonderful childhood until early onset dementia started to really take a hold of her Gran.😢 She's dropped out of High School & works at Diner to try & keep them housed and fed. It's hard but she doesn't want her placed in a state run facility, they're awful!💔
Less than two weeks shy of her 18th birthday, life takes a really strange & scary turn. She learns she's a Watcher, that means she's Angel descended & on her 18th Birthday she'll need to decide whether to become a Lumen and work against Demons or become a Shade and protect Demon portals into the human realm! They receive powers from the ArchAngel Cael in Avalon for the Lumen or from Arch Demon Apollyon in the Netherworld for the Shade.😳 Her instincts say she's Lumen but her current life says she might need to choose Shade, They have a starting salary in the thousands. Her Gran would finally get the round the clock care she needs.🙏 Then there's the Shade that saved her life, broody, gorgeous & teasing Gage. He certainly doesn't seem all bad & neither does his hall mate, Indigo. Maybe it's more doable than she thinks?😐
This book was everything I love about this type storytelling.😍🌟💥 I loved the storyline, it reminded of a cross between shadow hunters & fallen academy. I loved all of the abilities they're bestowed with. The pacing, back story, the nastiness of Gage's Dad, good verses evil, it's all perfect! Then there's the sizzling push & pull between Tatum & Gage, it is delicious.😍 They could turn out to be an epic romance, maybe? I loved the friends Drea, Indigo & Dash the most, I hate they're not all on the same side though.😭 ,
I'm addicted. I'm hoping this is a long series if the authors think their storyline can support it!🙏 I know I'm going to love book #2 just because of everything that's left open ended. You've got me - hook, line & sinker!🌟

Tatum is new to her upcoming powers and it's a struggle for her to ascend and is in the throes of learning her legacy and family history. As usual, young 18 year olds are given seemingly impossible tasks to save the world lol. A bit corny I know but we expect that so it's fine.
Tatum must learn about who the Watchers are and has a massive life altering choice to make; Lumen or Shade in less than three weeks.
Leia Stone has started what will be another great series.
