The Spanish Love Deception Kindle Edition
A wedding. A trip to Spain. The most infuriating man. And three days of pretending. Or in other words, a plan that will never work.
Catalina Martín, finally, not single. Her family is happy to announce that she will bring her American boyfriend to her sister's wedding. Everyone is invited to come and witness the most magical event of the year.
That would certainly be tomorrow's headline in the local newspaper of the small Spanish town I came from. Or the epitaph on my tombstone, seeing the turn my life had taken in the span of a phone call.
Four weeks wasn't a lot of time to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic-from NYC and all the way to Spain-for a wedding. Let alone, someone eager to play along my charade. But that didn't mean I was desperate enough to bring the 6'4 blue eyed pain in my ass standing before me.
Aaron Blackford. The man whose main occupation was making my blood boil had just offered himself to be my date. Right after inserting his nose in my business, calling me delusional, and calling himself my best option. See? Outrageous. Aggravating. Blood boiling. And much to my total despair, also right. Which left me with a surly and extra large dilemma in my hands. Was it worth the suffering to bring my colleague and bane of my existence as my fake boyfriend to my sister's wedding? Or was I better off coming clean and facing the consequences of my panic induced lie?
Like my abuela would say, que dios nos pille confesados.
The Spanish Love Deception is an enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating, SLOW-BURN romance. Perfect for those looking for a steamy slow-burn with the sweetest Happily Ever After.

Was there really no other way around this story? Did she really have to do it?
I didn’t have the heart to continue.
Apparently I need my escapism to be equal opportunity- probably going to narrow the field but I will persevere!
When I started I just kept reading and basically didn't stop till I finished the book. So yes, I was definitely into the story!
The banter between Lina and Aaron was what kept me going. I don't know what it is, but I just love it when the two main characters try to push eachother buttons. I have to say tho, more towards the ending of the book Aaron changed from grumpy towards a more softer guy and I didn't necessarily like that. Loved the story, but it sort off diminished their chemistry a little bit for me.
An easy read, the writing flowed and loved the main characters and Catalina's family. The story was engaging and even though the tipping point occurred only over a few days, it was still believable and credible as Lina and Aaron had been co-workers for 2 years and knew each other quite well beforehand.
AND... the moment of the soccer game -- hot damn! Give me some new panties!
Some reviewers comments are true, at times it was a little cheesy and one minor character provokes some ire. But hardly things that discredit the overall book.
I found it very enjoyable, was a good gap filler between series and would highly recommend to lovers of slow-burn and sappy endings. The positive rating is deserved.
What a debut novel!!
I loved the characters, was a classic romcom novel that I finished in a couple of days! I’ve struggled to find a book that I throughly enjoyed enough to finish but this exceeded my expectations.
Although the actual ‘Spanish love deception’ did not start until halfway in, I never felt that it dragged on or was filler in any way, I actually enjoyed the scenes before they went to Spain just as equally!
If I had to fault it, the last few chapters seemed a little bit rushed perhaps? But maybe that was me not wanting to book to end!
Got a major book hangover from this and have been unapologetically stalking the author for any news on her new book coming out!! Cannot wait to read it!

I am a complete SUCKERRR for anything romcom, how can you not be? They are fun and highly enjoyable and TSLD is definitely now up there with some of my all-time favourites.
TSLD starts of with Lina desperately needing a date for her sister's wedding back home in Spain, she has two problems; 1) she told her family she was bringing her boyfriend butttt she does not have one. 2) Her ex just happens to be the brother to the groom AND the best mate. This Ex is also a part of her reasoning for wanting to start fresh in America!
pain in her arse, stuck up, Aaron. Lina annoying work colleague. Yes, he is gorgeous but that doesn't matter when he is constantly making your life hell. Aaron offers, insists in fact, to help Lina out, by posing as her date for the wedding... what could go wrong?!
This has some of my all-time favourite romance tropes and honestly, Elena NAILED the sexual tension between Lina and Aaron. OH MY GOD, It was killing me, I couldn't wait to finish this book so I may have read it in less than a day hahaha BUT it was totally worth it!
GO BUY THIS BOOK for some much-needed escapism.
This book is about Catalina Martin who moved from a small Spanish town to New York City. When she tells her Mother she will be bringing her American boyfriend home to her sisters wedding, there is only one small problem... She doesn't actually have an American Boyfriend. This is where Aaron Blackford enters. Aaron, despite being Catalina's work enemy offers to be her fake boyfriend for the trip. Realising she has no other choice, she takes him up on the offer. One event after another, it becomes clear hate isn't the only emotion at play here. Will these two enemies be able to convince her family they are happily in love, without actually falling in love?
I loved everything about this book. It was so well written, the plot was so good. I loved how Elena revealed small bits and pieces throughout the entire book that made me love Aaron more and more. I can absolutely see why this has blown up on instagram, if you haven't already read this then I would recommend you do! Overall it is a very funny and sweet enemies to lovers, slow burn book. I can't wait to see what Elena Armas comes out with next.
It is predictable but i like that! You know what's going to happen but then there are a few obstacles thrown in the way which kept me reading.
I loved all the Spanish... the whole book reminded me of Jane The Virgin!! The characters were written well and to be honest, i would read this whole book again if it was in Aaron's point of view!
