This is hardly a review really, more an observation. But how does this book get exactly the same reviews as the first volume of stories by the same author???

perfect when used with kindle

This was fantastic. Each story introduces a new tense which is used extensively giving your brain time to soak up the pattern of it. When used with kindle you can check words or entire phrases using a dictionary (though I use the translation service which is provided by bing). So in real time you won't get tripped up. Chapters are a good size. I read one a night before bed. For me it's better to read something like this and have familiar words crop up, than to use flashcards for spaced repetition. You could read something like Harry Potter but this book has been designed to get you reading a lot quickly. Is it for beginners? possibly pitched slightly above that level. I certainly wouldn't want to power through without a kindle.

Excellent if you are about A2/B1standard and want to improve.

The stories are good and about the right length. Also the highlighted vocabulary is explained at the end of the chapter. I really like the stories and I really like the way the level is just right for me - I am close to B1 standard now. The use of a lot of speech also makes the reading more appropriate and it therefore helps with developing your speaking. I have read book one and have now almost finished book 2. I love them!

Basic Spanish stories that can both test & help build vocabulary.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 September 2019Verified Purchase
Good stories for beginners, the writer nicely brings up both common and uncommon words to help the reader build up a solid vocabulary. The stories are different, and interesting which prevent it from being a stale read and are structured in a way that they are both smooth and interesting chapters. The questions are poorly written however and didn't do much to test my understanding of the provided texts. Still, I have to say its a good book for those who want to learn Spanish through reading short stories (which in general I find very helpful.)

This was great. The stories were quite good and suitable for adult reading (ie not children's stories). Certainly good enough for learning.
Each story was subdivided so you can dip in for 20 minutes or so. There is a glossary of certain words and phrases at the end of each section with a resumé of the story, and a very short test of understanding if you want it.
If read on a kindle, highlighting any word will give the translation into English.
Very user friendly.
