Learning to Trust Again

I was so drawn into this book with everything this author offered. It did have its sweet moments not only between the sisters but between Charlotte and the MC’s enforcer, Cutter and the budding romance between Jamie and Isabelle. Jamie is one of the MacKenny brothers but unlike some of his brothers he’s not in the MC. He is a farmer and even though he may not be a part of the MC he and all of his brothers live by the mantra of family first.

Isabelle and her sister Charlotte are with the same thinking of family first. Now Isabelle is on the run with Charlotte in tow running for their lives with Isabelle’s crazy husband after her. Will Jamie and his brothers be able to save the two women once her husband tracks her down?

This was so well written with the look at the world of abuse, the pure love of sisters, the men who surround them and learning to trust again.

Spark of Time takes us on a journey that at times is heart wrenching but the one thing it reminds you is Family First Always. Jamie and Isabelle’s story is not an easy path, it is overflowing with emotions, angst and drama. A story that will grip your heart and soul hard and will not let go. At times you will be on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding and your pulse racing. Their story shows us some good guys are monsters and some monsters are really just saviors in disguise. Spark of Time is about fresh starts, fighting to survive and true family. Be prepared for the epilogue to have you craving the next book in this addictive series.

Spark of Time is book 5 in The MacKenny Brothers series .Holy hell this book just sucks you in from the beginning to end! I must admit it will be a hard read for some but its really worth the read, I really think its the flow of these books that you just have to read them all . Another fantastic book from Kathleen Kelly I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series its a 5 star read for me

How well do you know someone? Hopefully you know them well enough before you marry them! If not you could be in a lot of trouble like Isabelle! This book hooks you in right from the beginning and keeps you hooked until the end!

I do not consider this to be a stand-alone read, as there are reoccurring characters, overlapping / consecutive timelines and overarching themes. I highly recommend these be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as kidnapping / abduction, torture, fighting, domestic violence, rape, mental and physical assault, murder, threats, betrayal, etc.

There are grammatical issues throughout, mainly misspellings, typos, and an incorrect word choice.

Last chance …

I gave this 4 1/2 stars because the majority of this story is about Isabelle’s courtship, marriage and escape from her husband in Chicago. The first mention of Jamie and the MacKenny brothers doesn’t even occur in the first half of the story, he is first mentioned at 52%.

I understand why Kathleen Kelly used the majority of the story to build the background of “Belle”, but some of this could have been consolidated. I think the reader, myself included, would still care about her and would buy into / be invested in her getting away.

In this story, Isabelle is mentally and physically abused by her husband. She ignored all of the warning signs and then he uses threats to her family to keep her in line. With the help of friends, she is able to escape with her sister (who has a mental disability). Isabelle purchases a bakery in a small town. After she has been there for about 3 months, she meets Jamie and other members of the MC, when she delivers a special ordered cake from the brother Angus.

Angus knows right away that Isabelle is special and is someone he wants to get to know better. Unfortunately she has placed him squarely in the friend zone. After he visits with her a few times it is apparent that someone has hurt her in the past.

Can Jamie show her that she is special to him and earn her trust? Or, is her past too much for anyone to overcome? Has she done enough to stay hidden from Chase?
