How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

2.0 out of 5 starsstops music randomly & plays random playlists instead of what you ask for
Reviewed in Australia on 13 December 2019
when I first started using it it seemed to work not problem. then it would randomly stop the music, sometimes it would start again after 5mins and other times it wouldnt play at all. asking Alexa to continue would get a couple of seconds of music before stopping again. now alexia tells me she cant find any playlist i ask for and when i asked to plah my liked songs she started playing a classical music playlist (ive never listened to that so it was a random playlist on spotify). she did this several times, although the playlists she did play were different (one was piano background music) none of them were anh of my playlists, and the list name didnt sound remotely like ‘liked songs’ so how she thought thats what i was asking I have no idea. The skill needs to be fixed desperatly

1.0 out of 5 stars spotify will not link to two accounts
Reviewed in Australia on 13 July 2021
I have a 5 year old google home mini that as long as youre connected to the same wifi network, it will allow anyone to play spotify through it. My brand new alexa dots (three of them) will not work with more than one spotofy account. I can link one spotkfy account and the speakers come up on the devices list in the spotify app but when i link another amazon account it just ignores it. Google doesnt even need apps to be linked, it just plays through anyones phone as long as their connected to our home wifi! Not at all impressed, I should have sticked with google.

1.0 out of 5 stars No voice commands to select music with Spotify Skill
Reviewed in Australia on 21 April 2020
Used to work fine. Now Alexa acknowledges the command to play my music on Spotify but nothing. Just silence. Amazon Support was not helpful and did not fix it.
Spotify Support tried a few thing, disable Skill, reinstall Spotify. No help. They said it was an Amazon issue.
Spotify will play on Echo devices from the Spotify app, but no selection of music is possible with voice commands.
Amazon Prime music works fine with voice commands.

Something happened sfter submitting my review. Alexa is behaving as per specifications. Seriously dobut if it is a result of my commets.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cannot change playlists
Reviewed in Australia on 8 August 2020
Once you listen to a particular playlist, that’s it - you better like the playlist because Alexa won’t change it. If you ask to play a different playlist she annouces the new playlist but then just keeps on playing the previous one. The only way to change the playlist is manually through the Spotify app which completely defeats the purpose.

Amazon should really address all these glitches that people are reporting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Working
Reviewed in Australia on 31 December 2019
The skill used to work fine, but now it doesn't. Alexa now acknowledges the command as per normal, but the music doesn't play. Tried unlinking and linking, but no joy.

Alexa will play other music apps fine but Spotify just plays silence or last played song when using voice command on the echo dot alexa on phone and tablet works but just not the echo on same home network.

Steps taken to rectify but still the problem occurs.

Uninstall/Reinstall Spotify on the echo
Delete voice recordings on Amazon
Reset Echo
Reset wifi settings on echo
Reset modem
Use google DNS on modem
Reset wifi on echo and delete wifi passwords saved on Amazon.
