A Decent Revisit To Kick-Start Star Wars For A New Generation

J.J. Abrams proves that he can pull off a competent revival of something as big as Star Wars With Episode 7.

Star Wars Episode 7 is by no means perfect, for one the story structure is most definitely based on A New Hope, is that a bad thing though?

Shot on 35mm film, Episode 7 looks great on Bluray and has had a very faithful transfer with all of the glorious film gran left pretty much intact.

The familiar structure lends itself easily to nostalgia and works for the most part, if you are a fan of Star Wars you will most likely enjoy the film.
Personally I think that Episode 7 did it's job in terms if reinvigorating the franchise and the follow ups will carve their own path.

Saw this on the big screen in 3d when it first came out. Very good film for which there will be many reviews about the story etc which can be read elsewhere. What I want to say here is that this looked a lot better on our t.v. than it did at "the pictures".
Big screen HD tv/3d BluRay combination really demonstrated:-
1. the superior quality of the original film, shot at least partly on true 70mm film. Sharp with good colour (not one of those washed out grey colour films where everyone looks like they need a blood transfusion)
2. the 3d effects are superb and definitely worth the extra price over 2d version.
3. great presentation of the sound effects, dialogue and the music.

there are extras included and a nice 3d image on the box which are all worth having to some extent, but it was the 3d that really "stood out" for me

For a 3D movie, this has to be the one to watch. The 3D graphics are sharp, clear and just as one would expect as cinema quality. Buy this and get absorbed into the 3D world as it really is like being there and witnessing everything that happens. There's nothing else I can say about this film except it is great value at £15. Note that some of the negative reviews are uncalled for as the problem is certainly with their TVs. When I tried some 3D movies, via my XBox One S, there were problems, even with this movie. The voices of the main characters were not audible and the movie was in HD only. So, after a bit of tweaking with the TV settings and a new "4K, 3D" HDMI cable and all is now brilliant. So, before buying a 3D and / or a 4K version, make sure that your HDMI cables are "compatable" as normal HDMI cables can not handle UHD / 4K / 3D. Watch this movie in 3D, with the correct cable and the best settings and you will be amazed at how things like the Millenium Falcon actually come out of the screen. Brilliant movie and even better in 3D.

At the cinema I got drawn in by the spectacle, my 13 year old enjoying the treat, six months later and we are watching this again and I see now all its flaws and reashing of the first release New Hope and start groaning. Treat it as an enjoyable 'what you see what you get' entertaiment, do not read anything more into it, all the elements are there action, SPX, whimsy of old familiar characters to keep the 70's class happy, and it is okay but it really is a remake. Crystal crisp DVD as you would expect now.

Was a good revival of the Star Wars series. A lot of people said it was just a copy of A New Hope and yes, the movie did lean heavily on its roots. After the prequel films this was perhaps needed though as a reset.

A very enjoyable movie which set up things really well with the introduction of Supreme Leader Snoke as the new master villain. After this good initial establishing movie, the trilogy seem to get messy and completely lose its way. Really did waste all the good developing work Force Awakens had accomplished.
