As the first Caller in living memory, Eva struggles to find her footing as the bridge between her chosen people and the mythological race known as the Kyren.
When unexpected arrivals threaten to test the newly formed alliance, Eva and her protector, Caden, fight to hold together the fast-fraying bonds before peace unravels and war once again returns. Should she fail, bloodshed the likes the Broken Lands haven’t seen since the cataclysm will stain the ground red.
The mysterious abilities that lie at the heart of Eva’s power will be her salvation or lead to her becoming an evil far worse than anything seen before. Will this land fall or be reborn into a new age?

About the author

Writing is my first love. Even before I could read or put coherent sentences down on paper, I would beg the older kids to team up with me for the purpose of crafting ghost stories to share with our friends. This first writing partnership came to a tragic end when my coauthor decided to quit a day later and I threw my cookies at her head. This led to my conclusion that I worked better alone. Today, I stick with solo writing, telling the stories that would otherwise keep me up at night.
Most days (and nights) are spent feeding my tea addiction while defending the computer keyboard from my feline companions, Loki and Odin.

I felt like some things were never explained – like the origin of the bugs, and some things just seemed to directly contradict what we already knew of people (Van and Chirron).
But we got to see a lot of my favorites from the earlier books (Buck and Witt for example) and there's definitely more to learn about the mythologicals. I loved seeing Eva grow more confident in her abilities as a Caller and I love learning more of what makes Caden tick.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves this world. Just be prepared to feel as if there's a lot more to come.
There's lots of action, and I shed a few tears – all the elements are there for a great book.
As always there are a lot of typos, grammar issues, wrong words used etc. I know a lot of people aren't bothered by typos – but for me a good proofreader would make a huge difference to this book as I found myself being pulled out of the story a lot. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reader copy to review so maybe these will have been fixed, but past experience tells me they won't be.
