5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful simple machine

This is going to be a very truthful review. This is a lovely item. It's sturdy. It is easy to put together (although i did have to have my hubby tighten everything completely). It doesn't fold as such but the arms lay flat and crossed and it will stand against a wall very well. It's a little heavy for me, i cannot speak for anyone else. It is smooth to use. It has 12 different resistance levels. I am on the first and i have my reasons for it.The machine seat is comfortable and is around a foot height from the floor. The arms can be locked for conventional backwards and forwards motion or slightly loosed for full sculling motion.
I have a ruptured disc, cervical spondylosis, radiculopathy and mild myelopathy. The reason for choosing this particular style, is so i am in control. I can choose whether i do just legs, arms or use as a whole whilst not having to get right down on the floor. With the problems i have it's important to try and keep the strength you have for as long as you have as it will deteriorate over time no matter what and whilst i will never be able to get to number 12 on resistance or even probably 6 , it is a smashing piece of easy to use equipment. Very recommended. Thank you very Much.

1.0 out of 5 stars **Read the Manual - Only Good for 20 Minute Workouts** It's going back!
Reviewed in Canada on 6 January 2020

We just put this machine together and found that one hole in the seat bottom that is used to attach it to the frame is smaller than the hole on the other side. This makes it impossible for the rod used to secure the seat to pass through both holes and hold it in place. After calling the "Sunny" phone number listed on the manual and finding it did not work in Canada (?) I noticed the "CAUTION" and "WARNING" notes on the last page of the instructions. Obviously, these stated that the machine will overheat if used for more than 20 minutes, and that there must be a span of 20 minutes between uses...making the machine entirely useless to my wife and I who both work out in the AM. List this in your machine specifics, Sunny Fitness, and save us a whole bunch of assembly and tear-down-to-send-this-claptrap- back time in the future. Seriously disappointed. (We hope this information is helpful to the reviewers who said they are working out for 45 minutes, and who have noticed that the machine "seriously" overheats when they workout.)

I waited a little longer for this to come due to covid but what you you expect when the world is going mad for exercise equipment.
The instructions are to most simplest I've ever followed in my life, the screws are all in a vaccum seal attached to a cardboard back. They are clearly labelled and the manual is step by step with clear detailed instructions. I cut the screws out with a stanley knife and I used a highlighter and as i did each step i highlighted it. Me and my 10 year old son had it built in the time it took my partner to have a quick shower.
I got this one specifically because I'm 19 stone and it is made to accommodate a heavier weight. It slides a little on the floor but not too much to be annoying or make it impossible to use. I would 100% buy this again and it was worth the 2 month wait. Thank you, I love it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money and a little different to your usual rower
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 January 2021

So far so good. I’ve been wanted to try a rowing machine of some kind at home for a while, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune incase it wasn’t for me. I then came across this. The different style that gives more of a range of motion for the upper body was a bonus and the price was attractive. I kept looking at others, but kept coming back to this one, so once it was back in stock, I snapped one up. It took my other half about half an hour to put it all together. A couple of the black stoppers that stop the seat running off the end kept falling off when in use. These had already been installed when it arrived. I quickly realised that they had been put on incorrectly, so something to check when putting it all together.
So far I am only on no.4 tension and feel I can get my heart rate up enough to start burning calories, and now that I am using the full range of movement with each stroke, I feel my arm and core muscles are getting a workout. This is definitely for beginners, someone who wants to tone up a little and burn a few calories. Anyone wanting a serious workout will want to invest in something more expensive.
The machine is fairly compact, but the arms do take up more room compared to other machines, but I can easily stand this up against a wall for storage.
I am 5ft 7.5”and can get good leg stretch with more room behind me for the seat to go back.
Very happy with machine so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 1 Star is now a 5 stars after a month.

I originally gave this product 1 star and what changed my mind? I originally was disappointed with the level of resistance because even at the highest setting of 12 it was easy to do a few reps. I think some people expect this to feel more like rowing through quick sand than water. I blamed the lack of resistance on the fact that it was cheap. However I had visited a gym and the their more expensive rowing machine had about the same level of resistance! I figured maybe rowing machines just suck in general but all over the internet I found people saying it is one of the best workout machines. I was about to return it when I decided to give it one more try.

What I learned was that unlike other gym equipment this will not work if you don’t have the correct form and timing. You have to do some research to learn the correct form because some people on YouTube and google don’t know what they are talking about. Next is the timing. Every minute you should do a stroke 25 to 30 times. For about 5 to 10 minutes. Find out how many strokes makes up a mile.

When you have the correct form and time yourself then you’ll find out that it is more challenging than you think. I had to drop it from 12 to 7 setting.

The next day I was surprised that my abs hurt. This thing actually gave my abs a great workout and I only did it for 30 minutes.

I am 5’9 and 180 lbs, male.

I am certain someone with less strength and is aiming to lose weight will really love this. It relievers cardio for sure. I normally run and I was starting to break a sweat and breath hard after 6 minutes. So if you want cardio then this is it. Even if you do run a lot. On those days when your legs are too sore to run. This can be an extra way to get cardio while being soft on your joints.

I am not sure if this will work every muscle group because I have to use it more but so far it makes me sweat and at least works my abs in a short amount of time. Even if it only gives me cardio and works my abs then it would be worth the 99 I spent.

I am excited about this machine because everything people on the internet have been saying might be true.

I am still learning how to use it and I have a feeling it will give me more benefits.

It takes some getting used to but I like the feeling of rowing now.
It is not loud and you can watch TV while using it.
It feels comfortable and as solidly built as it looks in the photo.

My advice is to learn how to use it and try actually using it for at least 10 minutes for a few days. Remember to time your strokes and pay attention to form or this thing will be useless to you.

2.0 out of 5 stars If you live in Canada, think twice before buying this item

The package arrived on time and in good condition. Assembly was easy. I set it up the day it arrived, and rowed for about 5 minutes. I was going to change the resistance, and noticed there was a small pool of oil beneath the cylinder. I stopped using it, and the oil kept leaking out by dropfulls for the next few hours. I emailed Sunny's customer care, and received a quick reply. Unfortunately there is no warranty on the rower because I live in Canada. Sunny did offer to waive the cost of a new cylinder if I would pay shipping, which amounted to fifty five dollars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, compact, quiet, efficient - overall great machine

This is a really nice rowing machine. It was very easy to construct, it didn't take long at all. It's a really sturdy build, doesn't feel flimsy or likely to break, and has a nice big comfy seat and good size foot rests. In terms of its use, the little computer it comes with is extremely basic. You can count your strokes and the time you've been on the machine, but it doesn't have a timer, and you have to calculate the SPM yourself. It has 12 adjustable levels, but even as a beginner, anything under 7 doesn't give a great workout, so that's a bit limiting. The hydraulics heat up pretty fast, so it's advisable to stop after about 20 minutes and leave it to cool. This can be a bit annoying if you're just getting into it and want to carry on - but you can also do a decent workout either in bursts of twenty minutes, with gaps, or just doing sprints for 20 minutes. Its really quiet, you can listen to music or even watch TV while using it without any problem, and the arms fold in making it easy to store. The leg space is good - I'm 5'7" and have loads of space, it would definitely accommodate someone much taller without any issues. Overall, despite its limits, its a really great machine for the price, and I'm extremely happy with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted

I wanted a full motion rowing machine to exercise the upper part of my body and this does just the job. I have been using it for about a month and I use it for 30 minutes most days and results are already showing. Many reviews lamented that the resistance level are not hard but they are sufficient for me. I am still at level 5. As for the fact that there is no resistance for the legs that is not a problem for me as I exercise my legs through walking and exercise bike. This machine gives me the exercise I need it for. It is good value for money - yes the seat is wobbly and the machine is a bit noisy but it serves well the purpose for which I bought it.

Delivered today. Took about 30 mins to assemble but it was only attaching main bits to frame so no fiddly bits. Absolutely love it and does exactly what I wanted.

I am 56 yrs old and 5ft 1”. I’ve lost 4 stone through weight loss surgery and still a long way to go but due to a tear in my cartilage when doing the Couch25k I was scared of knee impact so needed an alternative and I’m definitely not a gym person. A rowing machine seemed a good alternative and after some research I chose this.

Machine is brilliant and even after 20 minutes I could feel my tummy area. I put the tension on 4 out of 12. The rowing action can just be straight back and fore or the “oars” move on a pivot like a sculling action which, if you keep your elbows high, I’m sure will tone the back of the arms which I wanted. Instructions recommend exercising in periods of 20 mins to allow hydraulics to cool down and it was “warm” when I finished. As I’m so short I couldn’t use full extent of the bar but I still got a good work out and will easily suit a person with longer legs. I intend to exercise for 20 mins every day and can see me increasing the tension. I’m wondering if a person a lot more powerful in the arms and legs would find it isn’t challenging enough and the hydraulics may overheat sooner (although have not tried level 12) but it’s a good strong piece of equipment and perfect for me.

I would definitely recommend this rowing machine and the price was extremely reasonable.

Really great product. Range of arm movement is good extra
That you don’t get at the gym. Easy to put together, did it myself in no time at all. I have disabilities that affect my motion and this seems like a good all rounder in terms of working different body parts. Could do with maybe having stronger resistance settings but I wouldn’t let that put you off buying it. Folds up not bad really and we have it stored upright.
