It almost has every Pokémon.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 August 2021Verified Purchase
Opened the parcel and there is some sort of brown mark on the majority of the pages. Luckily it's on the edge of the page so when reading it's not noticeable.
It doesn't contain all of the Pokémon. It has the latest gen, from galar, but not from the expansions. So it is missing Kubfu which is one of my favourites.
In my opinion, if it is released after the game it should contain the Pokémon from the game.
Now for the positives.
My 5 year old loves it.
I no longer get "dad what does (insert name) evolve into/from?" As it is all shown on the book. And it is very clear to see.
The Pokémon are not in number order but alphabetically which helps her find them.
And it is teaching her how to read and spell.
It gives the basic info such as name / height / weight / moves / etc, accompanied by a picture
It also shows how to pronounce the names.
Overal if I ignore the state it came in, I would have returned it if my daughter didn't see it, this is a good book. Definitely if you have younglings who want to be the very best.....upto the expansions. If it contained all of the Pokémon I would have given this 5 stars.

Doesn't live up to its predecessors
Reviewed in Canada on 4 August 2021Verified Purchase
I have to say I was really excited when I saw that this was coming out, I grew up with the original 1st gen book and I still have it today, even if the spine is broken and the pages are falling out, it was my companion over decades of playing pokemon
But I have to say I am disappointed in this book for a variety of reasons:
1, the title of this listing says over 900 pokemon, the cover of the book says over 875, which is it?
2, the pokemon are organized alphabetically. Why??? This doesn't make any sense to me at all, there is a an international pokedex numbering system and this is how the original book was organized. It just doesn't make sense splitting up pokemon and their evolutions. Blastoise is in the early pages and Squirtle is way near the back. Not only that it doesn't even list the page numbers of the evolutions
3, No evolution requirements: it doesn't tell you when pokemon evolve or how to evolve. This is honestly the number 1 thing I used the book for back in the day
4, Mega-evolutions are listed and pictured, but pokemon that have gigantamax forms are only noted, with no illustrations. The gigantamax forms are super neat and I was really looking forward to seeing them all illustrated but was super disappointed to find that they weren't
Overall I really have to say this was a big let down for me. This book really doesn't make a good companion to the games like I was hoping for

Excellent reference guide
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 January 2022Verified Purchase
As a parent I can’t stand Pokemon, probably because is really hard to relate to it. Our son is constantly drawn to the silly Pokemon cartoons and the cheap toys. Thankfully he isn’t collecting the cards. In a comic store he came across several Pokemon books and this reference guide among others that we later bought him as a stocking gift.
The soft cover book is fairly voluminous and very colourful though printed on thin pages. Each pages contains the stats of two characters.
To him it is a very valuable encyclopedia that allows him to find and identify all the Pokemon characters he knows about. So he is constantly chasing us to share and read out his gained knowledge. The book is full of facts and figures. And there is lots of information about attack types, Z-moves (what ever the may be) ect. Now this is actually quite good. He is somewhat of a reluctant reader and this forces him to put his skill to practice.

Smaller than expected

Brilliant book but I expected it to be bigger and to resemble an annual. It is a more dictionary sized book. Inside is great and a great gift for a pokemon fan. I would recommend. It was twice the price in easons! Hope this helps..

nice book but amazon stuck the envelope to the cover
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 September 2021Verified Purchase
when i opened the cardboard envelope it had part of another card envelope inside the sealing glue part of the envelope was stuck to my book cover it took my 15 minutes to remove the glue gunk from cover. The book however is nice.I thought it was gonna be the same size as the pokedex strategy guides but it’s half the size which i’m kinda glad of as it’ll take up less room on my bookshelf.
