Der Inhalt des Films und der Blu-ray sind bei den bisherigen Rezensionen, insbesondere von Zahlenakrobat67, bereits ausführlich und vorbildlich beschrieben. Dem ist nichts hinzuzufügen.
Ken Wahl spielt hier den Football-Star „Boomer Hayes“, der es mit zahlreichen Verbrechern, darunter Polizisten aufnimmt, die einen Chemieunfall ausnützen wollen, um die Häuser der Stadt zu plündern, darunter ein begehrtes riesiges Wandbild.

Der „Reiz“ des Films legt an der puren Lust der Zerstörung, die hier gezeigt wird. Den Slogan auf dem Cover der Blu-ray „Und bald brennt halb Beverly Hills“ kann ich nur bestätigen. „Boomer Hays“ kämpft mit seinen Möglichkeiten gegen die Verbrecher.
Die Rolle von Ken Wahl ist also völlig anders ausgelegt als in dem (allerdings nur uncut zu genießenden) Klassiker „Der Söldner“ von Action-Regisseur James Glickenhaus.

Von meiner Seite aus volle 4 Sterne dafür.
Ein Dank an Ascot Elite Home Entertainment, dass sie sich mit ihrer „Cinema Treasures“-Reihe die Mühe machen, alte Klassiker in einer guten Qualität zu veröffentlichen.

Action satt, Explosionen und Verfolgungsjagden. Ein actionreiches Vergnügen mit launigen B-Stars, guten Stunts und einem trainierten Hauptdarsteller. Ich kannte den Film bis vor seiner DVD-Veröffentlichung gar nicht, und bin dann bei Amazon aufmerksam geworden. Bin recht angetan, der Unterhaltungswert stimmt und auch sonst ist der Film ganz gut in Szene gesetzt, wenngleich die Dramaturgie sehr simpel ist und darstellerische Höhenflüge nicht erwartet werden können. Ich finde halt, dass ein Ken Wahl nicht die coole und schlagkräftige Präsenz hat wie Jean-Claude Van Damme und Co. Auch finde ich, dass das Ganze etwas spannungsarm geraten ist.
Gut ist er schon. 3,5/5 Sterne.

Die Cinema Treasures Reihe bringt seit geraumer Zeit vergessene oder wenig beachtete Film-Perlen ans Licht. Eine dieser Perlen ist Überfall auf Hollywood aka The Taking of Beverly Hills mit dem total unterschätzten Kollegen Ken Wahl. Seit Jahren hüte ich meine VHS wie ein Schatz, da der Film nie eine DVD-Auswertung spendiert bekommen hat. Und nun, dank der Cinema Treasures Reihe, kann ich dieses Tape nun endgütlig in Rente schicken. Die neue Blu-Ray ist dem Alter entsprechend gut bis sehr gut geworden und kann daher bedenkenlos weiterempfohlen werden. Wer einen schönen, schnörkellosen old-school Actioner mit etwas Humor erwartet liegt hier goldrichtig. Hoffentlich wird diese Cinema Treasures Reihe weiter und weiter kontinuierlich ausgebaut. Der Anfang war schonmal sehr sehr gut. Mehr davon !
