Ten strangers arrive at a snowbound mansion invited by their host, the shadowy Mr U.N. Owen. During dinner, an audio tape of Owen's voice is played, revealing that each guest has a scandalous secret a secret that each would be willing to kill to protect. It's not long before the first guest is murdered. It won't be the last.

Excellent version of the much-filmed story (AKA And Then There Were None). This one is a little more violently explicit than the 1946 version, but the 12 rating seems OK.

Very good picture quality and great cool performances especially from Stanley Holloway, Wifred Hyde White, and Dennis Price.

Helps if you are viewing this story for the first time, but even though I have seen the 1946 version and the 1974 one they did not spoil my pleasure of this one as each actor brings his/her own uniqueness to their role, and, along with subtle changes to each version, each version can be seen in a new light! The first of Harry Alan Towers version of the Christie novel/play. Black and White 16.9 ratio, very good picture, sound and Subtitles. Be aware of which release/version about which I write. Another reviewer says there is NO "Whodunnit" break, but on this version it is there. This is a very workable professional job, directed by George Pollock and written and produced by HAT (no Maria Rohm more's the pity). Having said that, wise old HAT has Dahlia Lavi (in a ridiculous wig) and lovely Shirley Eaton to brighten up our viewing. He also assembled a fine cast of good character actors (Hyde White/Leo Genn/Stanley HollowayDennis Price (surprisingly good) Some may carp at O'Brian and Fabian, but they do Ok and don't let the side down. We all know the plot and the script is pretty faithful. So knowing the end did I enjoy this? Yes I did! Coming at 92 mins, it doesn't pontificate, and just gets on with it. Relax and enjoy (though I guess this may not appeal to everybody) I almost forgot - Studio Canal include 2 original genuine trailers "Coming Next Week" STATION 6 SAHARA" and LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN" and the BBFC cert. Lovely stuff.

In a moment of weakness I made the mistake of buying this abysmal film on dvd. How some reviewers could praise this awful version is beyond me, and how some misguided individuals thought it better than the excellent 1945 adaptation is beyond comprehension. Half the cast were notable performers, though past their best and the rest - well!*? Perhaps there is a coterie of rogue reviewers who take a warped delight in people wasting their money!? The only hope for this sorry production would have been if the director had been the first to go!! - AVOID THIS VERSION - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

fab film. i've always liked this version of the film. i first saw this on new years eve 1977 on bbc2 around midnight. i'm glad they restored the one minute whodunnit break as i've noticed its missing from some versions. spoils the fun taking that out! this is the first time the film has subtitles for the deaf/hoh. would have been nice to have some bonus features but i think all the cast have passed away now so there is nobody left to talk about it.
