1.0 out of 5 stars Embellished onshore-reading fun, but don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Very disappointing & inaccurate albeit talkin’ story is a Surfers pastime. However “I was there” even if as an Aussie I was working for the enemy whom Ripcurl pursued aka the Santa Cruz, USA founded 1st Company in Surf O’NEILL (..since 1952) as Jack O’Neills International Promotions Manager circa 1980. Some facts within this book are simply inaccurate (so I wonder about other content) notably in the instances I personally experienced, otherwise there’s a good mix of buddy-beer-yarns. Make no mistake Doug ‘Claw’ Warbrick & Brian ‘Sing-ding’ Singer are truly epic characters & contributors to our modern Surf era. Their story is worth telling, their success continues to be an inspiration AND they have prevailed against all comers. Perhaps the author was overawed & the memories jaded by decades of retelling a history stimulated by drugs + rock n’ roll partying. RIPCURL = an Aussie Hero, just take the book with a grain of salt. Aloha, John Nielsen...since 1978.
