Well-informed, accurate re-enactment of the Salisbury events. No spy-characters, just the local response network.
At the end, the actual people who were involved are briefly introduced. Excellent.

Tension all the way Through
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 June 2021Verified Purchase
This is one of those programmes/films that British television does so very well. In four 45minute parts on one DVD it has you gripped all the way through to the very end.
Superbly acted and directed with a brilliant script that covers the whole (true) story perfectly. Knowing it is a true story adds to the tension as it makes you think about all the possible outcomes that could have happened.
This is very watchable indeed and certainly in our house it will be watched again and again.

Excllent portrayal
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 February 2021Verified Purchase
This account had been honestly created and portrays a very difficult time for the investigators and indeed all the townsfolk of Salisbuy. It has been honesty and simply retold and I look forward to seeing the film again to gather those minor points I had missed on the first viewing. Excellent account and I would highly recommend to viewers. It is also a warning to what coud happen if we dropped our vigilence or our defences.. All those employed for our protection (intelligence and physical) have my deepest admiraation, Well done!

Outstanding

Like a lot of previous reviewers, I watched this in lockdown and was glued. It mirrored what we were going through as a nation at the time and I can't help but think that if we had Tracy leading the national response to the pandemic we would be in a better place. This is just an amazing drama, beautifully acted, especially the lead actress and presented with an epic finale scene. Thoroughly recommended.

Salisbury overheated.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 January 2021Verified Purchase
Cut at least half an hour off this retelling of the Salisbury poisonings and this could have been a very good drama. Far too much of Anne Marie Duff rushing frenetically from interview to interview and far too much of Rafe Spall anguishing from room to room. The one good strand running through was the sympathetic portrayal of Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley quite beautifully played by Myanna Buring and Johnny Harris. For me these two saved the day.

Some fine work held back by too much fat and filler and an over-obvious sound track.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 September 2020Verified Purchase
I've seen three of the four episodes and found the "suspenseful music and intermittent faux heart beat" sound track about as creative as mud on a rainy day. Some of the acting was quite good, some of the scenes were well done, but there was an overall lack of creativity combined with an obvious need to tell a ninety minute story over three hours. Personally I've combined enjoying it with some genuine annoyance...sorry if this review isn't clear in content and direction, but that also mirrors this BBC production...I can recommend it as long as you're not expecting too many actual surprises...
