A Thin Disguise (Richter Book 2) Kindle Edition
A former gun for hire and a federal agent find themselves on the right side of love but the wrong end of a bullet in this Richter installment from New York Times bestselling author Catherine Bybee.
On a fateful night in Las Vegas, FBI agent Leo Grant is working on a critical detail in a high-profile child prostitution trial when a beautiful woman jumps into the path of a bullet meant for him. Little does Leo know that the woman is Olivia, an ex-assassin who is seeking redemption one good deed at a time.
One minute, Olivia is lunging in front of Leo on the Vegas Strip. The next, she’s waking up in the hospital in a haze of pain with no memory of her past, her enemies, or even her own name.
With Olivia suffering from memory loss and completely unaware of the danger she is in, it’s up to Leo and Neil MacBain’s team of operatives to keep her safe. With Olivia and Leo both unaware of her past crimes, the two have little reason to avoid their growing attraction. Slowly her past seeps in through the cracks as she struggles to find the answers of who she is. When the veil is lifted and her dark past is staring her down, Olivia must turn her back on Leo and the love she can never allow herself to have, and race to find her would-be killer.

Right from the start, this book is engrossing as the
main characters are strong and invite a reader to want to get to know more about them, which I did when it came to Olivia and Leo. The heroine is resilient, brave and I really felt for her. Redemption is important to her. But when she loses everything she’s ever known how does a woman know where to turn? How does she put her trust in people? Then again, there’s something about Leo that makes her want to put her trust in him.
While Leo, he’s a very determined FBI agent. There’s nothing he won’t do to keep Olivia safe, especially when she’s at her most vulnerable. Will her memories return to her? Will he be able to keep Olivia safe? Will he gain her trust? Will he get the criminal he’s after and close the case he’s working? So many questions rattled around in my mind and pulled me further into the book. Really, I read it it one sitting and wanted more.
Overall, Ms. Bybee has delivered one of her best books yet, which showed the depths of her research, how wrapped up in her characters she gets as she writes and which also ended marvelously, as Olivia realizes that she deserves love in her life. That she shouldn’t forever be seeking redemption for things that happened in the past. The past is the past and she and Leo deserve to be happy.
And whilst I liked it, I did find that it dragged for a lot of the story. I found myself skipping ahead in chapters, as to me (and this is just my opinion) that there was a lot of filling between the action.
When the action happened, it was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. Leo and Olivia's story is not a light and fluffy one, but you won't be able to stop yourself for cheering for then to fall in love.
So whilst this was not my favourite of the series so far, I look forward to reading more in the future.

When she is shut after saving a man’s life she wakes up but I see not knowing who she is, so now they have to find out not only who is the shooter but also who was the target her or Leo Grant, in the previous book he was FBI posing as a schoolteacher and now protecting Marie while she’s in court prosecuting her tormentor. Leo bumps into Olivia on the street and their lives are automatically changed can’t wait to read more from this series
I love this series with all it's secrets, shadows and hidden dangers...a fantastic read on Kindle Unlimited.
