This Much is True: 'There's never been a memoir so packed with eye-popping, hilarious and candid stories' DAILY MAIL Kindle Edition
'There is no one on earth quite so wonderful' STEPHEN FRY
BAFTA-winning actor, voice of everything from Monkey to the Cadbury's Caramel Rabbit, creator of a myriad of unforgettable characters from Lady Whiteadder to Professor Sprout, MIRIAM MARGOLYES, OBE, is the nation's favourite (and naughtiest) treasure. Now, at the age of 80, she has finally decided to tell her extraordinary life story - and it's well worth the wait.
Find out how being conceived in an air-raid gave her curly hair; what pranks led to her being known as the naughtiest girl Oxford High School ever had; how she ended up posing nude for Augustus John as a teenager; why Bob Monkhouse was the best (male) kiss she's ever had; and what happened next after Warren Beatty asked 'Do you fuck?'
From declaring her love to Vanessa Redgrave to being told to be quiet by the Queen, this book is packed with brilliant, hilarious stories. With a cast list stretching from Scorsese to Streisand, a cross-dressing Leonardo di Caprio to Isaiah Berlin, This Much Is True is as warm and honest, as full of life and surprises, as its inimitable author.

My art of choice is theatre, I remember so many of MMs roles in plays and films, some of which I had all but forgotten, until my memory was nudged.
Her little nuggets of information about people along the way in her fascinating life made me laugh out loud. Or nod, thinking “ I THOUGHT so.” Her wonderful female friends, loyal and true, her few male friends equally so, just from the joy of her company. Her suffering because of public school misogynistic male comics as a very young woman, made me want to cry. Those same public schoolboys still existed in some form or other through the 1980s & 1990s - I know, I worked with them. Dear Miriam, your book is a wonderful ripsnorter. It made me laugh, cry, think, read passages out loud, discuss Brexit again ( in NZ), contemplate my own decrepitude and old age (not far off ) and want to read Shakespeare and Dickens again. Not bad for one book. Brava, Miriam, brava. Xxxx
At times it got bogged down with names and places, that, although most dear to her heart, the general public had no idea who they were. The timeline was all over the place so it made it hard to keep track.
I guess when you have lived such a full life and worked on so many projects, you can’t name them all. But I truely wished for a few more insights to some films and tv shows she did and perhaps less on the men she had an intimate episode with. I wanted to know more of the women in her life.
I think this is closer to a three and a half star book.

Her appearances on The Graham Norton show have brought her to many but what a stunningly varied adventure her life has been up to this point. We would have been cheated of so much had she not written this book!
Such a career (and, thankfully, ongoing); radio, tv, film and theatre.
This wonderful lady charts the highs and the lows (plenty of the latter ha ha, read it, you will see what I mean!) but throughout she is frank, honest and, more importantly, completely genuine.
What you see is what you get with this force of nature and this is pure, unadulterated Miriam - her story will shock, delight, amuse and sadden in parts but I have sailed through it with gusto and if you are anything like I am, it will make you love her that little bit more!
Thank you dear lady, it's been a joy!
autobiography that will tell it as it is.
Miriam at her luscious best
I adore you Miriam and love your book
