2 | 5 Build Quality | It's a little plasticy (very) and does not feel strong like the Corsair.
4 | 5 Sound Quality | Really good, but not 7.1 Surround like the Corsair or its more expenssive brother
4 | 1 Mic Quality | This is better by far than corsair and has detachable MIC. Perfect.
4 | 5 Comfort | It's OK, but tight and the earcups are too small. Like its designed for children.
5 | 2 Connection | Corsair was abismal, this is epic. Maybe even better than my old Logitech!
5 | 1 EXTRAS | Corsair has a poor app. This device talks to you, auto shutdown and few other presets.
24 | 19 Overall I like the Turtle more than Corsair and my only gripe is comfort and no 7.1 surround.
Received them a week ago so I can't rate their build quality just yet and I am aware that some customers have had problems with the headband breaking.
The sound is good and the presets ( normal, bass etc) do work well. I also like the way the set confirms mute and on/ off functions.
They feel comfortable to wear (even with glasses) and have game/chat, mute and preset functions all easily useable whilst in game.
The reason I have given 3 stars is the mic monitoring function. It works fine if the mic is very close to your mouth but unfortunately also picks up your breathing, especially from the nose, so other people get that wind tunnel effect. This makes the monitoring function useless as it stops working when the mic is moved further away!
One of the reasons I bought these was the monitoring as I sometimes play very late at night and don't want to disturb others by talking loudly without realising that I am doing so.
I wonder if anyone else has had this issue?
I can't give them 5 stars as they need a wire to connect to the PC/phone.... I realise that there's probably some PS4 nonsense reason as to why this is - but there's still no excuse not to put a bluetooth toggle/receiver in the headset surely? I'd have happily paid an extra tenner to make them more wirelessly multipurpose....
To use with your PC just plug the dongle into a spare powered USB port, wait 20 seconds for the drivers to install themselves and when Windows tells you your device has installed turn on the headset. It's that simple and when you turn off the headset, the dongle will also power down and sound will return to your speakers so no need to unplug the dongle from your PC.
Now for the surprising bit, to use with the PS4 the instructions say to use the optical audio cable connected from the back of the PS4 to the dongle plugged in at the front. I am a curios soul and know that plug and play USB headsets mostly work with the PS4, so I simply plugged in the dongle to my PS4 and guess what? The audio and mic both work perfectly fine without the optical cable! I tried plugging the optical cable in to see if performance improved but it sounds identical, so you do not need to use the optical cable even for the PS4. Just make sure your audio settings send 'All audio' to your headset and you are good to go. As with PC when you turn off the headset power the dongle goes to sleep and sound reverts back to your speakers, tv or whatever you were previously using.
I am impressed by the sound of this headset, it is rich, clear, refined and full of detail with a wide, deep soundstage. The bass is very good, full of power and this headset goes LOUD lol. The microphone is also loud and clear as well as being fully adjustable and removable if you want to simply listen to music. It's possible to use this headset wired with you mobile or ipod but as the headset is amplified it still needs to be charged and powered up.
Having charged it fully I used it for 10 hours with no sign of the battery needing another charge yet, so I think the claim of around 15 hours use per charge is more or less accurate. Build quality wise it is plastic and feels light, but it looks good and is also comfy even for long sessions. There is the odd creak when wearing them but not anything you'll hear with sound playing at a reasonable volume. My headset suffers from no problems with buzzing or hiss, when there is no sound playing it is silent. The range covers my entire largish one bed apartment, so I can walk around to my hearts content and continue listening or chatting.
I recommend this headset highly, it is well worth the asking price and more in my opinion. Bought mine from Amazon on sale for £50 which is a true bargain but it's easily worth double that. So if you are looking for a reasonably priced fully wireless headset for your PS4 or Windows PC just buy it, you won't regret it :)
