Cate what a storyteller you are! The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate is a riveting tale of love, longing, and betrayal. I love the build up of the journey the two main characters go on. It’s not insta love, or teenage angst (thank goodness, I love you for that). There is a real story, and it works I think, because they both have life experience, which resonates with the reader. Their story is slowly revealed to the reader as the book progresses. And can I just add, I loved the little twist with Killian, and the dynamic of their relationship (no spoilers). There are no plot holes, every scene has a purpose, the secondary characters are well rounded and interesting enough to require their own stories, and given the length of the novel, everything is well paced out, not rushed, or cliche. I loved the bonus epilogue, it was just as entertaining as the book. I’m sure there is so much more I could say, but I will end with, if you are after a shifter story with actually a great story, 🔥🔥, something that will make you feel, and transport you to their world, this book is it! One Click this book! Congratulations Cate on another excellent job! Can’t wait for your next book!

This book was not perfect and not DNF material, but a well rounded book with favourite tropes swept inside it's pages.
It had all the elements of several tropes, which is rejected mate, grumpy Alpha, shifter, strong female protagonist.

Slightly different take on mates and shifter society, which is refreshing. Una is funny and you will LOL, while Killian is a douche that you can’t help root for. Now what I really want is Kennedy and Tye’s story. I hope that’s our next book!!! Can’t wait to read what is published next in the series

Loved the unexpected twist....I went from hating Killian to puzzlement and then to grudging then hesitant and surprised approval... Love me a strong female and Una is definitely one, as are your mini-pack in their various ways. An interesting twist on the rejected mate 'genre'.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly suprised as the book progressed

A rejected mates paranormal romance which I really wasn't sure about at the start. But I'm glad I didn't put the book down, it was unexpected and has me curious to read more by the author.

Although I feel the book could have developed things further it suprised me in a good way.

The misogyny of some many of the males in the pack made me grind my teeth.

Brillant little read, really enjoyed it from beginning to end. I loved the characters killian and Una. Can't wait for more. I haven't read a rejected mates novel in awhile and it was just the ticket to get me back in love with them.

A sweet book about a full on alpha who literally doesn't recognise his mate when she I stood right in front of him. He has to grovel, she has to forgive.

Never read this author before! I'm stoked that this was not a disappointment! But before I go any further...

That review that says the FMC was sleeping around, basically sl*t shaming, so they couldn't get into the book? Dude. FMC was 27 years old, had no HINT of a mate or relationship or connection to anyone, and slept with a human, on two separate occasions. Yeah, real sl*tbag there. Jesus, if you require a 27 year old female to be a virgin, go read Diana Palmer. Were YOU a virgin when you met your husband? Somehow, I doubt it.

Moving on!

This was excellent redemption/grovel. I love rejected/betrayed stories, but I am always so sad that there is never, ever enough grovel. The FMC always caves at the hint of an er*ction, or even apologizes herself! This was.... not that! Heck, this hero wasn't HALF the jerk that most of them are nowadays, but that grovel game was ON POINT.

10/10 would do him.

I'mma go find out what else this author writes.

It's a nice book, but nothing outstanding.

I really liked Una, I loved how she was independent and smart and made Killian work for her. I liked Killian too.

The mate bond was s**t, the fact that bonded people just sleep with others was a s**tty thing, it might as well be called the breeding bond, because if the fact that being mates is to have kids, then it isn't a mate bond. I also hated how the bond can just be taken away or made dormant with a tea, this isn't how mate bonds work, I feel like you can change things here and there, but the whole mate bond in books is the fact that it can't be changed, so making random people into mates just to tell that they sleep with others is weird, because if the mate bond isn't powerful why would Killian feel that way about Una when he doesn't really know her?! There's also the knot thing, that Una just ripped herself form it, I don't think that this is how it works? The author decided to make things different and it just didn't work.

Also in the beginning there was so much name droping that it got me so confused, like the guys that are Killian's friends, I don't know who they are, how they look like, since the author wanted to make it a series, she should had presented the future MC's better to create a buzz around their books.

I felt like the ending was rushed and came out of nowhere.

I'll read the next book because I liked the blurb and the author have a nice writing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very slow burn

As I branch out from my typical genres, I believe this is my first “rejected mate” trope. While I enjoyed the setup in the beginning and most of the story up to ~75%, once I finished there’s just something…meh about it.

I enjoyed both leads and the dual POV narration. Una is a spunky lead, just trying to keep a low profile while she works towards her independence outside of being a ‘lone female reject.’ Her and ‘her girls’ are a lovely breath of fresh air in this pack ruled by strength. Killian gives a first impression as a big, dumb, brutish Alpha, but there’s more than meets the eye, especially once we’re treated to some heartbreaking flashbacks that really flesh out his character. They’re also both pretty darn funny - I found myself chuckling out loud at times, especially once Killian starts trying to win Una back.

I definitely wasn’t expecting how much of a slow-burn this story would be. The language is so crude, with so much sexual imagery and tension right from the get-go, but the actual romance between the two leads takes a loooong time to get going. Not necessarily a bad thing, what with Una giving the big ol’ FU to Killian for the initial mate rejection, just not what I was expecting!

Anyways, perhaps once I get a few more of this trope under my belt I may feel differently. I’m moving onto book 2 right away, and I do think I will give this a re-read at some point.
